17 Days at Sea With A Toddler: What its REALLY Like (Pacific Crossing 8 of 8) S.V. Delos Ep. 423

Ahoy patreon fam!  We're proud to present our last episode of our Pacific crossing series (can't believe how fast these 8 episodes have flown by!!!).  For this one we thought it would be  interesting to explore what it's really been like to spend so long at sea with Sierra...When we were in Mexico after hauling out in Penasco, we were trying to decide between spending another whole year there, or making the jump across the Pacific.  We were both super stoked about the idea of making it back into the South Pacific, but the one thing that held us back from making the call was wondering how Sierra would do, (and how we would do handling how she would do).  But after lots of discussions and back and forth, we decided that we were all up to the task.  In some ways the crossing went way better than we expected in terms of Sierra, but it wasn't without it's challenges. In this episode we show you both sides of it, the struggles along with all the smiles.  But ultimately it was such a beautiful experience to share as a family, and we COULD NOT be more proud of how Sierra did....crossing an ocean is tough on even the hardiest of sailors, let alone a toddler, and she handled it all with so much positivity and energy.  It's so crazy to imagine what it must have been like for her...how she interpreted what was going on, the emotions she felt...We can't wait to share these videos with her when she's older and show her what an incredible little sailor baby she was!

Anyone else here sail with little ones?  Or done a big adventure or trip with their kiddo?  Tell us about your experience and what lessons you learned in the comments :)

Sending lots of love from our latest anchorage in Tahiti!

This was such a wholesome episode. You're raising a real captain there! <3

Sierra is a champ. So are y'all for being sea-borne parents, it has to be tricky sometimes. Woohoo!

Thomas Duncan

Love her little tea set, maybe some magnets would be good on the bottom to make them stick and not fly off. She's a little sailor, gonna have her inspecting the lights on the mast in no time!

Emily

We've messaged with them a few times, super impressive what they've done with their family!

If you haven’t, you should definitely connect with Sailing Nahoa. They just crossed from South Africa to Brazil, and are currently on their way to Grenada, with 2 toddlers, and just the two parents. No additional crew for support.

Fantastic episode. I really am amazed at how well Sierra did and in awe of her mom, Kazza, who works with her so beautifully. Brian, too, of course. You've done a wonderful job!

CATHERINE HACKETT

Fabulous episode on an epic crossing. Can’t wait for the next episode!!!

Myra Slepoy

I'm with Connor... how do you sail an Amel and not know about Delos ? ! :) You know you have to go find them and get them on the channel now right? We all need to know who they are and how did they not know about Delos ? :)

That was really an extra special episode. Put together that way it just seemed super personal and heart warming. Thanks for another peek inside. Yes, yes, yes, Sierra is just a really super sailor kid. Of course, out of courtesy for Sierra's future viewing, you didn't show any tantrums. Then, Pretty sure she never even had one. Blessings to all!!!

Spencer Norby

Absolutely delightful as usual <3

Victoria Makris

In the thumbnail above there is a BIG play arrow on top of Sierra's face! Is she smiling or frowning? I can't tell. : - /
