Sometimes I feel like QUITTING YOUTUBE...

Hey there beautiful amigos,

Here's a little something we wanted to get off our chest that happened this week.  We wanted to share it here as well and make sure that you all can see why we are so grateful for your support.  Lots of people have this idea in their head that all YouTubers are rich and have the easiest job in the world...but by choosing to support us here you are acknowledging the amount of work, love, blood, sweat and tears that have gone into this project for over a decade.  And it's not only our efforts that have gone into it, it's all our crew over the years and our team of editors and support staff that help keep all the parts moving and allow us to create and share content that we're proud of.  Content that inspires, entertains, and teaches millions of people around the world.  So thank you for being here from the bottom of our hearts.  Truly, this project would not be possible without you.

Also, while I've got ya here I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for all the love  and amazing messages and comments you all sent to Kazza. We are happy to report that she's really on the mend finally, and the whole family is back on Delos at a nearby anchorage that's still really close to medical care just in case any other complications arise.

Sending lots of love of to everyone today 🥰🥰🥰

Wow, so that really reinforces my "Patronizing" SVDelos, jeez, like 2 or 3 years now. Oh BTW your AIS is really spotty...last ping was Aug 5, and ive seen 5 month gaps in the past, just for your info though. Enjoy Baja !!!!!!

Rick Laroux

I've been putting facebook jail because I posted something I shared 2 years ago.,,,

Dave Martin

I"ve been a patron on Patreon since you went to that system cause I know it gives you more direct connection and better income than U tube ever could. Hopefully everyone will switch to Patreon for you. I know I've never regretted it. Cheers.

Art Deene

Actually got back on board as a patron after seeing this video - and the video the treatment of which was the subject of this video, and the video after that. That swimming in the bio luminescent water was unreal, insanely beautiful - and I'm stunned how well you were able to capture it.

Janne Peltonen

Ok interesting, yeah we saw a lot of comments about these platforms we are definitely going to look into it...even if it's not quite there yet, something to keep an eye on as it improves

Sailing SV Delos

It's really crazy actually when you think about some of the big picture implications of how such a huge portion of our media we consume (which is A LOT) is controlled by such a small few people. We can't be surre but we think it was some eggs we had in a little restaurant.

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks from one Brian to another 😁

Sailing SV Delos

Oh wow so glad you enjoyed that episode, we really loved putting that one together. That night swim was one of our highlights of Costa Rica, was SO crazy! Well welcome to the inner tribe and we are so stoked and grateful to have you here!

Sailing SV Delos

I’ve been watching your videos for years now and , like many others , have not only been inspired for my own sailing adventure but learned so much as well. This video was one of my favorites and the information about red tide was super educational. Your frustration with YouTube was well founded and totally inspired me to finally make the effort to figure out how to become a patron. Glad to be on board.

AnjaRae

if it means anything Brian, that video is one of my all time favourites. Thank you so much for all your hard work.

Brian Travis

How totally ridiculous!! This is the real danger of social media (TV news, etc.) today with censorship and biased reporting. A small number of people controlling what we hear and see is very, very dangerous not only for the content providers but also to the public at large. Thanks for sharing your rant and I could not agree more. BTW glad to hear Kazza is doing better. Food poisining is scary. Did you find out what caused it?

Skip Vail

from a viewership POV Rumble is a great platform but hearing a groan from content creators about the lack of sophistication there as its a in development platform albeit coming along - instead I've heard better experiences using Odyssey ...good luck

Dale Unroe

i agree you tube is out of control use multiple providers. rumble is known for not sensoring.

Logan Johnson

Since you have already put in the work on the video, why don't you upload it to another platform, like Rumble, just to start building a presence there. Until YouTube starts to feel the pressure from other platforms, they have control and will continue these types of practices.

Chris Hughes

yep, totally understand no one would want to abandon it right away. Would have to do both simultaneously I would imagine. And of course I'm speaking from a point of view of a person that has never done this sort of thing..LOL.

Jaimie Guidry

Heading over to the video to 'like' and comment again.

David Hagler

I’ve been a viewer for ~3 years now. Like many others — you’ve been a positive influence in my life & helped me through some tough times. I’ve heard your call & it’s time to say thank you by giving back. Much love, Owen

Owen Dominick

Man, it feels like you guys have had it rough over the last week! That sucks! You know, it surprised me when you said they accepted your appeal. I heard many stories from other creators where YouTube appeals get rejected without mentioning which part of the video was causing the issues, leaving confused creators trying to edit parts of the video or turning to Twitter to try and flag Youtube into helping. (To YouTubes credit, they eventually do, but the damage has often already been done). One of my personal frustrations is when I re-upload a video. Half my subscribers have already seen it, so when YouTube tests the video, and fewer people are interested, they won't give the video any more impressions because they think it's a dud! I'm grateful that Youtube gives us all the opportunity to make some money from what we love, but I feel your frustrations! I'll rewatch the video after work. All the hard work you put into the videos is appreciated. Delos is by far my favorite vlogging channel, and I don't even sail! (would love to try though) fantastic content! I hope you continue to grow and prosper! Take it easy, Phil.

Chlorophil

I loved everything about that video. The bioluminescent plankton was stunning!! Always here with you guys through everything 😊😊

Stephanie Millwee

sign on to Rumble. they won't ding you.

Shaniko Jack

Also buying a new mug. Broke my last one.

Justin Thompson

Hey Brian I’m not sure if it’ll help but I’m traveling out of the country for the week. I set the last video up to play on loop on my laptop while I’m gone, and shut off my screensaver, 🤷🏻‍♂️ best idea I could come up with 😂

Justin Thompson

Hi Brian, Kazza and Jordan, I watched the vlog last night. I would say if you're working within the YouTube guidelines, just keeps your suits on. Why tempt fate. I know you're frustrated, but I think there's more to your frustration than just this. You've had rolly anchorages, high mooring fees, red tide, Kazza getting sick, no food... so what do you do? Get back to center. Sail north.

Ronald James Haug

I tried to stick it to the man, had two to three devices continuously running that videos for three hours. It is all I could do for now. :) Hope Kazza is continuing to heal.

Sara van Eerde

Gosh... I thought the picture of you two was beautiful. Frameable. Hang in there, I'm with you.

Doug Walton

Youtube have way too much power. Bloody annoying.

Andrew Cousins

No quitting allowed for my favorite channel! We're with ya!

Peter Kane

Time to go up to the next tier.

David Benefiel

Liggt of your inspiration shows through. The rest of the dross will clear. Alll things pass!

Hey Brian - that shit is infuriating. You were way more measured in your comments than I could have pulled off. Blessings on you three and all extended crew. xoxo

Patricia

I'm so relieved that Kazza is on the mend. Being a Patreon supporter of Calico Skies, I read her story and I'm grateful that Grace was able to help you and Sierra. Wishing Kazza a quick and successful recovery.

Bill Dapp

It's good to vent on occasion, and you certainly don't do it very often. On the bright side, getting horked by YT only once out of 380 videos isn't that bad. I follow another content creator who had to take down and reload many hundreds of videos because his 15-second theme song (which he had commissioned himself) actually contained a tiny sample of another song he didn't have permission to use. It was inaudible, really. Yet somehow the YT audio analysis algorithm found it, and that was that. Hang onto that release from OneTox! :-)

Jeff Fischer

Hey William, stoked to have ya here!

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much Victoria, we are so happy about Kazza's recovery too, feels so good to be back out on the water with the family 🥰

Sailing SV Delos

Wow thanks so much Susan and Randy, so happy to know our amazing Delos Tribe always has our backs 🥰🥰🥰

Sailing SV Delos

Yeah you never know with YouTube these days...horse video and swimming at night in beautiful bioluminescence are a no...but all the violence of the news is just fine. I feel ya Anne!

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much Alan, we are so happy and relieved about Kazza over here too!

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much for the kind words Mark, and yes we are so relieved that Kazza is finally doing better! So happy to have the support of the Delos Tribe and we are always happy to take you along for the ride and share this beautiful world of ours with you 🥰

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much Lowell. So sorry to hear you've been kept off the water, but so glad we can help you sail vicariously through us. And yep that's a pretty classic moment in Delos history never to be forgotten!

Sailing SV Delos

Oh mannnn yeah there's some stuff on that wall that would make the saltiest of sailors blush! And thanks so much for the well wishes, we are so relieved to be back on Delos and have Kazza on the mend 🥰

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks Robert, yeah you're so right. Being sick is tough enough but being far away from medical care and in another country just adds so much more anxiety and stress into the whole situation.

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much Heather and John, we appreciate it! 🥰🥰🥰

Sailing SV Delos

Aww thanks, we will always be here for you guys!

Sailing SV Delos

Hey TJ, welcome to the inner tribe, so stoked to have you here with us! And yes we are all so relieved about Kazza as well, it was a little scary there for a bit

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much Denise, thanks for having our backs, sending all the good vibes and love to the PNW!

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much Mark, sending love and hugs right back at ya 💕💕💕

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much Bobbie, yes we are so relieved that Kazza is doing better, was a bit scary there for a bit.

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks Brent, let me know if you have any good recommendations on what we should spend it on!

Sailing SV Delos

Haha that's one way to stick it to the man, I love it!

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much Janet, so happy to have you here with us in the Tribe 🥰

Sailing SV Delos

Haha does it count if I drink the beer for her? Yeah it's a tough one because YouTube is such a huge audience and platform, will be interesting to see if someone can come up with a better model that works for viewers and creators

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much for the support Bill!

Sailing SV Delos

I just re-joined - Nanny-bots are a pain in the yaktabe!

William Metcalf

Oh man that sucks! I keep hearing these YT abuse stories in increased quantities, but usually from more controversial content creators than you guys. Sorry you guys had to deal with that crap. So glad Kazza is firmly on the mend and hopefully nearly back to normal!

Victoria Makris

No problem, I just upped our contribution, and I will buy that shirt I have been putting off. Be safe. Susan and Randy

Randy and Susan

some idiot probably complained. that's how this happens. there are some petty, bored aholes trolling around yt just to piss people off. I posted a video of some horses, and 2 of them happened to start mating, yt killed that video even though there are literally thousands of horse mating videos on yt.

Anne West

Patreon is the place to be but I've liked and commented, looks like a lot of other people have as well. Glad Kazza is getting better, hugs and love to all.

Alan Gore

You prevailed on appeal and hopefully that will serve as a precedence when they want to censure in the future. Meanwhile, most of us appreciate your hard work and excellent film making skills, honed over the last decade. Thank you for including us vicariously on your adventures and buying you a beer on Patreon every episode is the very least we can do. Cheers. Don't suffer anguish about one economically failed video. The big picture is just fine and while this wasn't right, letting this go is the only reasonable option. You and your team are way too good at this to be brought down by the politics of a multibillion dollar public company. What you do is hard enough without taking on extra pressure. Glad to hear that Kazza is on the mend and best wishes for better times in the Sea of Cortez. Time to heal and rejuvenate and enjoy what is in store. -Mark

Mark Capalongan

I joined Patreon a while back because you guys put out excellent videos and I find them entertaining. I pay a little each month because I want to make sure that you are rewarded for your efforts. I don't watch TV at all and very few movies anymore because of the suckage factor so I get most of my viewing entertainment via youtube. I'm old and have bad joint pain so I had to stop sailing 12 years ago. And most of our fleet in New Orleans got wiped out by Hurrican Katrina. So now I sail vicariously thru you guys and a few other channels. You guys are the best storytellers and I think that is the secret of keeping viewers interested. And you spread good karma around the world. That said, my favorite moment of all your videos is from episode 46, "I'm In Love With This Sailor Girl" at 17:46. It's Karen at the helm with blurry boobs looking back at the camera with that goofy Kazza grin. Happy Birthday sailor momma.

Lowell McCormick

First and foremost, I'm glad Karin is on the mend. I hope that continues and Sierra doesn't worry too much about her mom. Sorry about getting defended. I know some sailing channels flirt with the line of the standards and get defunded a lot. ...on a funnier note, you could always have a only fans page that just shows single images of the wall of fame/shame 😂😜😳🤢

HappyRock616

Rubbish treatment right there. At least Kazza is doing better, I speak from experience that it is horrible being really sick while on a boat in a strange place. Keep up the great work and don't let YT ruin your vibe.

Robert Place

Sending hugs 🫂. I tossed a few crumbs to the YT algorithm on the video, hope it helps. 🇨🇦🥰

Heather & John (The Old Travel Bums)

Must be so frustrating to have that happen! Nasty U Tube! Happy to hear Kazza is OK. Dont be disheartened and keep up the good work. We rely on you to make our day!!❤

GordM

I'm a man of my word. New patreon member here! Again, thanks for the amazing content you guys. Glad Kazzatron is on the mend. Sorry YouTube screwed you guys on last weeks episode. Such a shame and a pitiful way for them to handle it. They need content creator engagement reps... not bots. Cheers!

TJ Faudale

Hey Brian, thank you so much for the info on the hand held depth finder. I was so sorry to read about Kazza's salmonella scare, Dat stuff is nas-TEEE. I guess I must have missed something about YouTube trying to screw you guys over for some reason. I'm not sure what it would be for as your vids have never been anything but amazing and, especially after Sierra's arrival, so very family friendly. What ever it is - you guys will always have our support and our hearts. Us Pacific Northwesterner's have to stick together! (Our boat is in Anacortes and we live in Mount Vernon, WA) Keep up the great work and take that time for yourself and your beautiful family.

Denise McDonald

Nothing but love team. Keep doing what you are doing, and glad kazza is on the mend. ❤️

Mark Clay

So sorry & sad this happened!! Love all your hard work and content!! Thank you and happy to hear family life is just about back to normal. 💕🙏💕

Bobbie Hastings

I feel for you team Team Delos, there was nothing of poor taste in the feed very disheartening for you all. us too . Any one who has watched for years knows that your videos are in very good taste, and if one is looking for racy it will not be on SV Delos. I ill rewatch and leave a positive comment Keep the great work and Bryan and word to the wise spend that $.06 wisely

Brent Smith

Righto, time to stream the video on multiple devices for a bit.

Sara van Eerde

OMG. I love your content and 100% support SVDelos and appreciate the effort you all put in to creating top notch content. Quite honestly, Taylor’s swim suit bottoms are much more risqué than the picture of your bare backs. Good grief! It is my pleasure to support SVDelos. So glad to know Karin is recovering. Thank God Sierra did not get sick. Salmonella is a nasty bacteria. xxoo! Janet

Janet Dupree

Funny this video came up. My son and I were literally just having a discussion about 'What is the next up and coming video sharing platform'. YouTube has grown too large to manage and they start providing crappy service or censorship, etc. You are the 3rd channel today to speak on this issue, and we don't follow many! Kazza, so glad you are feeling better. I've never had Salmonella, but get UTI's often. So often I used to have a standing rx for antibiotics whenever I needed them. Thankfully that is not the case today. Drink BEER! It flushes the system. Real advice from my urologist..lol. Well .. that was for kidney stones...but helps anyway! haha

Jaimie Guidry

I watched the bioluminescence video and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m glad they “corrected” their mistake. 🤪 As you know I took my own boat about 3400 nm last year and really grew to appreciate how hard you folks work. I was planning to make some 1 to 2 minute videos on occasion to update family and friends but was so exhausted simply from the sailing/navigating/maintenance parts of my little project that I had no energy left to plan, shoot and edit even the simplest of short informal videos. I mean, I had a great experience but I totally grew to appreciate how much work you folks put in to make these episodes come to life. It’s Herculean! Geez, YouTube, wake up! Sorry to hear this happened, gang. -Bill P.S. Glad to hear that Kazzaa is on the mend!

Bill Sullivan

Glad Kazza is starting to feel better❤️

Lisa & Claude

That truly sucks the video was well put together and educational loved little nuggets laughs as you dove into the bioluminescent waters much love keep up the hard work

Lisa & Claude

Yes, that sucks. I watched it on patreon as a supporter and i saw nothing offensive. I have seem real racy stuff with almost nothing bikinis etc. on YT. I will watch it again on YT so you can get your ad revenue back up!

larry kay

That sucks so bad, guys. It's big corporation BS gone haywire. Glad they fixed it, though. I really appreciate the energy you put into the content. Until I get my own boat and head out there, it's a welcomed dose of sea time every Friday. Also, between your videos and Rick Moore's stuff, I was able to fly through my ASA sailing classes--so lots of extra thanks for that. Glad Kazza is on the mend and hope you all get back to enjoying life real soon.

John Wiles

Can u relaunch the Video, perhaps apply a different thumbnail? The vid is great, I love watching your adventures. I am suffering a very annoying back injury so I can't go out and live my adventures (climbing)at the moment. So watching all your stuff has been super fun, I have learned lots about a life that is pretty foreign for me :). Keep up all the great work, try not to let the youtube police get ya down, you make fantastic content!

Dave Cooke

Got to love YouTube "community guidelines" that are actually written by credit card companies, activist investors, and others who don't actually watch the content. Another vote for Patreon. I think the puritanical structure around content on YouTube is on one hand depressing and on the other hand infuriating. Patreon is one way of monetizing but I feel (do not know) there has to be another content delivery option around the corner. Some disruptor waiting in the wings. You've experimented with direct to customer sales (Svalbard Series) and I notice you haven't done that again. The number of sailors who make it in the magazine and book game is very very tiny. There are a few YouTube Sailors who have explicit nudity on their channels (what I call European style). Monetizing art has been a struggle for centuries. Another content creator I'm friends with has been de-monetized several times on another platform. It's kind of like why even try? Another content creator with a big sailing channel and I have had dinner about how YouTube is a loss leader and they look at it as generating revenue in other ways. I've thought and written about this but as none of my writing is monetized I've obviously not figured it out. - Sam

Sailing SV Eoti

Much love to Kazza and the family, in no way can I imagine that's a fun time
