Running from Hurricanes (Again)- Patrons Only
Added 2022-09-05 00:37:55 +0000 UTCReal Time Update- Sept 4th, 2022 Ahoy Tribe! Well it seems we've been a hurricane magnet of sorts lately.... We wanted to give you a little update on what's been going on. Wish us luck! Course update- We’re headed for San Carlos! After seeing today’s forecast for the impending hurricane we decided to bail on our plans to ride it out in a hurricane hole in Baja. Seemed like a better idea to sail towards the mainland and out of the projected path instead of right into it. So we made a 90 turn to starboard and are now 60 NM from San Carlos, Sonora. It’s been a crazy few days of considering options and we sure hope this is the right call. We called the marina in San Carlos and emailed but no response yet. Is there anyone around that has any info on a safe option for us in San Carlos (marina/mooring/anchorage)? We want to be prepared as it could still get quite windy. We used to do the Columbus Day Regatta from San Carlos to Guaymas, and those were fun. Of course, that was the late 80's. There are some nice dive spots out at the island if you can get out there, and the ferry wreck is good too. I don't know if Gary's dive shop is still in business, but Gary is an American and can help find things if you need them. That harbor is pretty well protected. Hold fast and Delos will protect you. I used to take my 22 ft. walkaround cuddy down there for SCUB diving. Moored in San Carlos Marina many times. I found a blog for someone that has sailed this area extensively that might be helpful.

There is a yact club there. Maybe they would have suggestions.. It looks like it is owned by an american "Ed". Try giving him a call..
