When Your Tattoo Artist Says OOPS π³β¦.14 Swallows Later! Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 383

We're back this week with gem of an episode that will leave you with a smile on your face and lots of giggles. After arriving to Mexico after our 5 day passage, we were super stoked to dive right into everything this coast has to offer...but mother nature had other plans for us. What we hoped to have been a little 3 day stop over turned into 3 weeks as the strongest hurricane to ever hit the pacific coast of Mexico in the month of may rolled in to the north of us, and then blasted headwinds in the exact direction we wanted to go for the foreseeable forecast. But in true Delos fashion, we decided to drink a few beers and roll with it, leading to an airbnb pool party, some tattoos, lots and lots of beer, a trip to Guatemala, and of course boat projects galore.
One thing we didn't really film and capture that well is that the marina in Chiapas really was in the middle of nowhere, full of bugs (the girls were doing yoga and workouts in the bathroom because it was too many bugs to do it outside π), terrible marina wifi that made it extremely difficult to take advantage of all the downtime to get some work done (and our satellite didn't work in that area), stinking hot or pouring down rain...so it was a bit of a drag for sure and we were feeling SO stuck and stir crazy while we were there. But such is cruiser life, and times like these are the price you pay for all the incredible highs and amazing experiences that the lifestyle can bring.

Many of you had mentioned that you're interested in some more educational bonus content on here, so we're going to release the full weather planning chat here on Patreon on Tuesday so you can really get an idea of what we're looking at and how we make decisions. Also, after our brief dive into spare parts I keep onboard in this episode, we had the idea to create a video or maybe a document to help guide you in stocking your boat with all the spares you might need...but we want to do this really well and put some time and consideration into putting it together, so stay tuned for that in the near-ish future!

Back in the 70's, Pueblo, Colorado, I'm 19 years old ( ya I know, be quiet : ) The Coors Tavern on Prairie Ave. was walking distance from home, uhoh .ya Late at night the locals would show up with home made tamale's. They were killer delicious!! They'd walk thru the tavern and sell them off trays. The good ole days. Great history on the tattoos Brian. I knew it had its roots in sailing but I never knew of the symbols or their meaning. I now look at your tattoos with new respect, especially the swallows. 70k plus is wicked amazing. I have 758. An epic voyage from Deale Maryland to Fernandino Beach FL. I crewed on a 36' Catalina, down the ICW, same model as Jeff B. We replaced the water pump, $1000, one of many projects to get the boat ready. I'll tell you about it when I see you in Annapolis. Great episode. Be well my friend !! Since I binged all the way from the beginning during Covid, I actually knew roughly the time period of all the pictures that you guys landed on. Not sure what that says about me LOL... One thing though.. please tell me you guys have scanned those pictures, or at least took digital copies of the wall? Seeing those pictures that have faded, are kind of a visible demonstration of how quickly life goes by.. there will come a day when you wished you could still see them all. Not trying to get all sentimental, just sharing the perspective of someone who'd love a time machine to relive past events.
