Boat Work GRAND FINALE…Replacing our TRANSMISSION! Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 409

Hey friends!  Grab a taco (or some popcorn will do) and your favorite cold beverage and get ready for the final chapter of our boat yard saga!  Don't worry, soooo many things would break in the weeks that followed so if boat project videos are your thing we still have plenty more coming for ya 😂  I saved the "best" (worst?) for last and as our splash date approached it was finally time to tackle the beast of a project of replacing our transmission.  Those of you that watched our real time update last week (here's the link if you missed it: https://www.patreon.com/posts/80817929 ) know that this is only the beginning of this project, and our brand new transmission actually failed already.

We also show our Patron meet up where we got to hang with this awesome group of humans and share some beers and stories.  We've been so lucky to have been able to meet so many of you over the last year...we had a patron's party for completing my circumnavigation in Puerto Vallarta, we met HUNDREDS of you at our party at the boat show, and now our most recent catch up in Puerto Penasco.  We had help from you in designing and building parts for the furler, we had an amazing house to stay in thanks to you, and so much help, love, and support.  We are just so dang grateful for this amazing community that all of you are a part of, and in case we don't say it enough, thank you SO MUCH from the bottom of our hearts...seriously, you guys really are the best.

And while we're on the topic of people we are grateful for, this post wouldn't be complete without the hugest shoutout ever and virtual hugs for SUPER RYAN!  He is truly a legendary human being.  I've never met such a happy go lucky person with a can-do attitude...everything is better when he's around, and I can't imagine ever doing another haul out without him 😂 We love ya buddy, and can't wait to see when our paths cross again next!

Sending lots of love and gratitude to all of you,

Brian, Kazza, Hannah, & Sierra <3

wow what a ton of work!! Cheers to all and well done!

Boats are possibly more work than houses! What a lot of work you have been doing. But then time with Mor Mor and playing on a playground, staying in one place for a while, all good experiences and helps you enjoy the not-that while sailing! What a helper that Ryan is too! 🙏

Shelly Ackerman

Agree! :-)

I'm exhausted watching this video. You guys, and friends, are amazing people keeping "old" Delos young. Can't wait to see you in blue water once again.

Doug Walton

I was going to say on the last video. Don't forget to go up the mast! LOL Great work! Sorry Mor Mor is gone home again already. You have some great helpers (Ryan & Kazza). Shout out to Tom for letting you all use his place! It looks pretty nice.

Another successful haul out and refurbishing complete…Brian, you’re an amazing guy…I believe no one else could have been more prepared to skipper Delos…your complete hands on experience with each one of her systems is awesome and so necessary to providing a safe and successful home that Delos provides for your family and crew in your journey around this incredibly varied and ever changing world. Kudos to the Amel Company for building such an incredible blue water boat. But as incredible as Delos is, she would not be able to accomplish what she has without an owner/captain/CEO to keep her maintained, updated with technology, and infused with the vision that you provide. Thanks for taking us along and excitedly expecting each new episode. Thanks to all who helped make her seaworthy and ready to go again! Fair winds and following seas my friends! Much love to all from our family here in Tennessee!

Michael Ward

That had to be EXHAUSTING!! But what a great job all of you!

CATHERINE HACKETT

Kudos to you all, Brian, Kazza and Ryan. The repair projects were great to watch. As usual, you were stoic and kept your cool. Brian, you are a very patient man for sure being able to figure things out even with some trial and error mixed in. It's a lesson for us viewers( Patrons) that sailing is not always laid back and fun. But you know this already that the down times are very well worth it to be able to live the life that you have chosen. Stay well and safe. Fair winds. Looking forward to your Pacific passages.

Ray Lehman

Might be a grand idea to make sure Ryan gets to join you in some of this South Pacific islands along the way for the fun too! 💛😆

Colleen Balch

Hey Brian, as you get underway. I'm curious to hear how you like your new fishing gear, or if you revert to the ease of the handline on passage...

Tim S

Jeepers, Brian, you've got to get some power tools: an electric impact gun and a couple of electric ratchets would save you a lot of effort and time.
