Added 2023-04-21 13:00:09 +0000 UTCThe feeling of splashing Delos after months of going at in the boat yard is pretty hard to beat. The relief of having so much hard work behind us, having the sense of freedom returned, feeling like everything is ready, Delos is in amazing shape, we've got food and water and everything we need to survive on board...and now we can go anywhere or do anything we want in the world. THAT is what sailing is all about, and that is what makes all the blood, sweat, and tears worthwhile.
In this episode we also part ways (let's not call it a goodbye, but a see you later) with Bill and Grace. It's crazy how much we've been through together, and while we've had little jaunts apart from each other along the way, we've pretty much been traveling together for 3 years (Sierra has never known life on Delos without them 🥹). Sierra is especially close with Grace, and we joke about it a lot but it's actually true that Grace is her best friend. The bond they have is truly special, and it will be so sad to see that part of our lives put on hold for now. But such is the life of the sailor, and we are SURE our paths will cross again.
It's crazy that we are posting this from the OPEN OCEAN! We've rounded the southernmost point of the Baja Peninsula and are officially making our way towards the Marquesas. If you'd like to track our progress, click this link here:

2023-10-17 21:08:42 +0000 UTCHey, about painting under jackstands: I have one extra jackstand. Once the paint is dry enough, I'll take that next to each stand in turn, tighten the extra stand, loosen the actual stand, paint, let it dry properly, put the original stand on, move to the next one. This works especially well if there's some extra time. And no need to go painting in a hurry with the boat hanging on the crane.
