REAL LIFE Aboard Our Floating, Off Grid Home ⛵️ Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 411

Ahoy friends!  Our trip south continues with some GORGEOUS conditions! Even if it was a bit chilly we were absolutely loving the winter in the Sea of Cortez compared to our trip up which was mostly motoring through a windless swimming pool and sweating a lot haha.  Now we had awesome wind and Delos was eating up the miles like a machine, it felt SO AMAZING!

Our introduction back into cruiser life after our long break honestly couldn't have been better.  We found some relaxing hot springs, did some hiking, a few repairs, and lots of wonderful moments together as a family.  Sierra has changed so much in the 4 months since we were last cruising, and it's such a joy to see how much more independent, curious, and in awe of the world she has become.

Meanwhile, can you believe that we still have reception out here on our crossing?! We are now about a week and a half into our passage and the star link is still plugging away like a champ.  So much has changed since our last lap through the south pacific when Delos would go dark and disconnect for weeks or even months at a time without internet- now here we are over 1,000 miles from civilisation sending you this week's episode....How wild is that?!? Anyway, we're gonna get back to staring at the big blue nothingness around us and pondering life's big questions, but we are sending all our love from the big blue Pacific Ocean 💕

It is wild that there's a connection there. The price to pay is the night sky, astronomy and space exploration.

Hi Guys, catching up on your videos, life has been crazy! Hope all is well and you are safe and enjoying the south Pacific. A giant Cheers! and Nugs steals the show again with a big snot slurp!!

SV Trippin'

Beautiful! Looks chilly though. I just ❤️ the moments after turning the engine off! It is amazing! Enjoy your time on the water!

Shelly Ackerman

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much Wayne, so glad you enjoyed this one :)

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks for posting and sharing. Nice to see Delos and crew back in their element again.

Lance Daniels

The work life balance is pretty spectacular. I love all the play time, hiking etc you all do. And Sierra is just the cutest. I love when just you 3, but then can't wait for you to have crew also. I also love the individual attention Sierra gets from you both. You're great parents! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Randa Caswell-Deen

Outstanding!!!

Chris and Claudia Stothard

Toddler belly slams - been there bro . . . :) awesome shot at 16:45

WHAT VERSION OF STARLINK DID YOU GET?

FRANCIS DEL VECCHIO

Great work not get work

Wayne a Roberge

This to me is one of the best episodes ever , ya’ll keep up the get work.

Wayne a Roberge

That episode is coming soon, not next week but the week after!

Sailing SV Delos

Aw thanks Dan, we love that part of the video so freaking much 🥰🥰🥰

Sailing SV Delos

Well we are in the Pacific right now, but we are using Starlink! So incredible that it is still working this far out!

Sailing SV Delos

Hey Francis, there are lots of ways for water to get into a mast, especially at the top there the wires enter for Nav lights, instruments, etc. some masts actually drain straight through to the bilge (keel stepped) while masts like Delos which is deck stepped have drains at the bottom to let water out. So they are sort of designed to drain.

Sailing SV Delos

Actually it’s a great question! There are lots of ways for water to get into a mast, especially at the top there the wires enter for Nav lights, instruments, etc. some masts actually drain straight through to the bilge (keel stepped) while masts like Delos which is deck stepped have drains at the bottom to let water out. So they are sort of designed to drain.

I think they did. In fact, I first thought the boat we saw at 1:15 might be Lintika, but I realized it's the wrong color and hull configuration. Probably yet to come in a future video.

Jeff Fischer

I thought Brady and Blue were going to buddy boat with Delos around Mexico. Does anyone know why they weren't able to? Greetings from NYC!

Chris and Claudia Stothard

Well it depends, sometimes we buy them online as a PDF and then we download them onto an ipad which is pretty convenient. Or sometimes we order them online, get them from other cruisers that have finished in that area, or they have them in the boat chandleries as well.

Sailing SV Delos

Two of our favorite things in life haha

Sailing SV Delos

It really is such a beautiful thing, we are so grateful for our ability to spend so much time together :) Good luck with your race, hope you're able to snag the title again this time!

Sailing SV Delos

That Daddy/Daughter sequence was so heartwarming and beautiful. Huge smiles. Lucky little girl and lucky daddy. ❤

Dan Moss

The wires for the new light seem to go into open holes without any type of grommet or sealant. Is that correct? Would that not cause water to drip into the mast and follow the electrical wires down it and eventually cause problems inside the master and inside the boat?

FRANCIS DEL VECCHIO

I have Sam question about water in the mast

FRANCIS DEL VECCHIO

ALWAYS A PLEASURE. HOW ARE YOU PUBLISHING VIDEOS WAY OUT IN THE ATLANTIC ?

FRANCIS DEL VECCHIO

Hey guys, probably a dumb question: when replacing the light, how come you didn't bother to cover the old holes? Wouldn't water get into the mast?

Sean Martin

Awesome as always❤️

Lisa & Claude

Beautiful sailing and family!! Question? Where do you get the cruising guides.

Ronald Bermingham

Another great video! I particularly liked the nose licking that Sierra gave Brian and the phrase about "weightlessness for the ears". Please keep 'em coming.

Jeff Mack

How incredibly fortunate you all are to get to spend 24/7 together as a family. I think the impact of this alone will be huge for Sierra as she grows up. Great episode as always. We're going sailing this weekend, we've got our first "Cruiser" series race this weekend. We're the defending champions, but they said our handicap is going up, so we've got to get faster if we want to win this year.

Michael Conway

Now, let's see what's going on.

Scott C. Wise

Nice Vid Cheers!

SV Trippin'

Låter underbart!! 😊
