Hope everyone is staying warm and cozy wherever you are, sounds like its freezing all over the States and Europe π₯Ά Hopefully this will warm ya up a little bit! For those of you that have watched our older videos, this one is a little throwback to ep. 46 (just a casual 400 episodes ago π ). Like our time in the Philipines, our stay in Tahanea stands out as a chapter of our journey where we were just so content, so in love, and totally at peace. We really settled into the groove of simple living. But the cyclone season was creeping its way towards us, and we finally got a good weather window to start making some miles east against the tradewinds, so we pulled the hook and set off back towards Raroia (that's where raced Colin to in previous episodes, saw the KonTiki monument, went crab hunting, swam with mantas...so yeah that made saying goodbye to Tahanea a bit easier π ) When we went back and rewatched that episode, we were so struck at how there have always been a few constants in our life (especially, each other) despite the nature of our lifestyle which is full of change and unknowns. I think that's one of the things that has allowed us to do what we do for so long...it's exciting to live everyday not knowing what's going to happen...but certain aspects of that can be a little draining too, so having each other through all the ups and downs just takes away so many of the question marks and creates security and stability which is so important. The episode you talk about in the beginning is the 1st sailing video we ever saw. It used to be called Real Time Stood Still or something like that. From there we went back and binged every episode. This was a good 8 years ago that we found it. Your journeys inspired us to buy a boat and sail away too. Sadly, I had a stroke and needed heart surgery so our story ends with the health crisis. We bring sailing back into our lives with your beautiful family on our big screen TV so its all good and gold. Fair winds mates!

To answer your question...yes and no...Our party pace has definitely slowed down SOOOO much, but we still have our moments (we even bought a fog machine and little strobe lights for Delos last year π ). I think right now we have a really good balance with finding time to let our hair down a bit, but as we get older of course the hangovers get worse, the energy after this kinda stuff goes down, and it feels nice to be fresh and ready for action especially with Sierra.

2024-01-12 23:19:17 +0000 UTCtoday we got some spring feelings in Stockholm π it's supposed to be minus 25 on Tuesday though π it's a bit strange for me to hear you talk about episodes 9 years ago because I started watching you only a month or so ago and have been watching like crazy since then. I'm on episode 273 now and my analysis is that things have calmed down a bit with all the partying in the later episodes (completely understandable considering Sierra) do you miss that time a lot when you look back? I have 4 children myself so I know there is nothing better in the world but you can still miss another part of life and dream back π take care / Mattias
