EARLY & AD FREE ACCESS: Island Diaries: Life Schooling in Paradise 🏝️ Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 445

Ahoy friends!  This week's new episode is hot n' ready for ya!  We think you're really gonna love this one 🥰 Our inspiration for the theme of this video came when we realized as we flipped through one of Sierra's favorite books about marine animals, that she had seen the majority of these animals up close and personal with her own eyes.  What an amazing privilege that is, and we feel so grateful that we've been able to show her so many incredible people, places, and things at such a young age.  As her language, personality, and interests continue to blossom, it's been such a delight to see the way she appreciates and absorbs everything around here...but Sierra's not the only one impressed by our latest backyard.  This place really is something else, and we have some once in a lifetime encounters that we will NEVER forget.  We hope you enjoy this one, and let us know in the comments about your favorite/coolest/strangest encounter with an animal 🐙

Lots of love and big hugs from all of us!

Brian, Kazza, & Sierra

But can you bite into a nice fresh coconut? Hmmmmm

Scott C. Wise

I know you will always do what's best for Sierra. Love clearly abounds in your family and that is what it's all about.❤️❤️

CATHERINE HACKETT

Thanks for taking the time to respond and share a little but more of your story. Waiting out the hurricane seems like one of those moments where you listen to nature and then magic happens.

Thanks so much Dusty 🥰

Yeah I actually read an article about this too, I'm guessing it was the same one I think I saw it on a YouTube sailing channels facebook group. It sounded like she had a very different experience than what we are giving Sierra. I really felt for her as it sounded pretty awful. So far Sierra is loving this lifestyle and we really enjoy our time together as a family, but as she gets older and might develop other wants and needs we will always do what is right for her to give her a happy and secure upbringing. We've met tons of super happy and healthy boat kids that are very emotionally and socially intelligent and really love the life, but I suppose every kid is different too :)

🥹 I know, this moment was just too sweet wasn't it???

Sailing SV Delos

That was such a precious moment wasn't it...definitely goes to show we have so much to learn about living from the little ones. So glad you enjoyed Mike :)

Kazza is the voiceover queen! And thanks so much, we really feel so lucky that we're able to give her experiences like these, and we are so happy that we're able to spread some love and good vibes by sharing some of the wonder she feels 🫶

Thanks Myra! We've picked up a few things over the years, but when you're in a place like the Tuamotus it makes our job so easy, every where you point the camera is just pure magic 😁

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much Douglas! Hope you're staying warm out there, and we are so stoked to have you along on the journey with us for all these years :)

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks so much Alan, it was such a special time for us we really enjoyed putting this one together :)

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks Michael, so glad you enjoyed this one 😁

Sailing SV Delos

In our case a fresh coconut does the job :)

Sailing SV Delos

Glad you enjoyed it Sean and we are always so happy to share some good vibes with you :)

Thanks so much Kystal 🥰 Oh man the mantas were SO crazy! We've been really lucky with our manta encounters lately but this was truly something else. We met Sheddy when we were in Mexico last year (we were all stuck in the marina in Chiapas waiting for Hurricane to pass us) and we thought it was so cool what she is doing, we are so happy to support her so she can keep doing the good work :)

YOU Guys are doing so great huggs and kisses

I love the way you encourage Sierra's interest in all she sees. I recently read an article about children growing up on sailboats who had had miserable experiences. The author seemed to be against the whole idea but I can't help thinking about the kids on Totem, Sierra, Vera on Ran Sailing, and Holly Martin who grew up on board Dave and Jaja Martin's boat. With the right parents this can be a fabulous childhood.

CATHERINE HACKETT

Where do things go when they die? Right here! :)

Jim Bickerstaff

I was sad ..... when the episode was over! Sierra's comment about life ........ "right here" ... was so beautiful and honest. It makes me wonder if any religious thoughts for Sierra are hovering somewhere in the back of your minds (or Mormor's and Pappa D?) I am a Methodist (old school) ..... but unsure of belief. When growing up ... my older brother told me "religion and the Bible are such a good idea ..... that if God did not exist ... Man would have needed to invent him". "Its a little like having bees in your head ..... but there they are!". Go figure. Keep 'em flyin

Bonne Mike

Awesome to see Sierra’s genuine interest and respect for the natural world emerging. Brian, you commented that you hope she remembers this, but don’t worry. The experiences you are affording her now will be a continuum through her young life, contributing to a foundational set of memories that will undoubtedly remain with her for her entire life. It is a remarkable gift you are giving her as parents, and it continues to be a highlight of your videos to see a bit of our amazing planet through her eyes. And one last thing…as much as I enjoyed your voice over for the manta ray segment, that is begging for a second cut with Kazaa Cousteau as the narrator!

Tom Caban

Fabulous episode as always. Your filming skills have become epically great, from the scenes around the atoll (mesmerizing) to the underwater manta ballet. I feel as if I’m experiencing it right along with you!

Myra Slepoy

I love it love it love it, thank you so much for enduring the wild world and sharing with icy Oregon. I have been following since Sierra was born, and before! What a wonderful family you have collected it makes me happy to come along with you ciao.

Douglas Cottel

Alan Gore

Michael Conway
