At the break of dawn we left Hiva Oa and set sail towards Fatu Hiva. An hour into it we looked at each other and made a spontaneous decision to alter course to starboard and turn a 40 nm sail into a 400 nm sail. Tuamotus here we come! Having that choice and freedom is my most favorite and amazing thing about this lifestyle.
The sailing has been spectacular with an average speed of 7.1 knots and a constant breeze hovering around 15 knots. Multiple fish landed and plenty of dolphins. Sierra is spending a lot of time camping on her tent we fashioned in the cockpit 🤣
Saying goodbye to the Marquesas feels so amazing! It’s been a challenging 3 months in these absolutely stunning islands. But now we can’t wait for calm anchorages, wide open spaces, and clear water 🥳
