Wankels produce a lot of power with fewer moving parts, however (ain't there always a downside?!) they are far less fuel efficient and are very hard to find people to work on.

Hey Pete, most likely it will be on ediesel engine direct to a normal shaft/propellor to mimimize the loss of mechanical energy to electrical and back again.... And then two electric motors to work in parallel with this. More details to come!

Hey Olivier, sounds like you have some incredible plans! I think like with all things you will find very many viewpoints on this subject. Just like monohulls there are some that are better suited for coastal cruising and some that are proper blue-water boats. The same holds true for catamarans. I think some typical production cats would not fare well in true storm conditions where the living space has been maximized at the expense of sailing characteristics. There are a number of specs you can pay attention to including the ratios of length to width, the freeboard, etc. Keeping weight centered and out of the ends. After speaking to many people on the matter I've come to the conclusion that you can safely cross oceans in a cat. I have personally met many people that have sailed through the same conditions we have on Delos on their Catamarans and they have performed well. I think if the conditions get bad enough a small boat is a small boat in a big ocean, no matter how many hulls you have! So, it's all a matter of reviewing your sailing plans. Will you be pushing the limits and sailing in the roaring 40's or below routinely? Will you be sailing through cyclone or hurricane areas during the storm season? I think it's worth to consider!

Will you have a hybrid diesel electric for the engines with 2 smaller generators? Also here’s some boilermaker animation from the US gulf coast.

Buying a Stradbroke Yachts
Hello Brian, I follow you for more than 10 years.
I am 58 years old and I have always sailed. I wanted to buy a sloop Garcia Explorer 60 but after seeing your last video, I doubt about buying a catamaran. I would of course like to go around the world by the 3 caps and spend the rest of my life on the boat BUT I especially want to go in Arctic and Antarctic. I am a sailor a little “old school” and I am afraid to be turned by a wave with a catamaran. With a sloop even if we turn around we come back in the right direction...with a catamaran it is impossible. I spoke with Rob Stevenson for a future booking but, feeling you highly, I would like to know even after seeing your episode 451 why you changed your mind. Do you think it is safe to sail in a catamaran...
What’s about in a rough sea...
Thank you for your answer and keep going

I think the main house batteries will be 48v, but then will step down to 24v for things like winches and windlass, and 12v for low power things like lights, pumps, etc.

As of the Engine question. Are you familiar with the Wankel Engine? Mazda has used that set up in one of their cars (MX30) to produce electricity. Meaning the auxilliary Wankel engine uses a min amount of fuel to produce the electricity the main engine needs.
If that technic could be used in boats you would have an excellent set up. Maybe worth looking into it
So good to see how excited you are ☮️👩🏻🦰☮️👩🏻🦰☮️👩🏻🦰☮️

Your plan sounds good and realistic. Glad you are using pros to weld the hull. The power plant is thinking out of the box. I like it. What voltage will you run in the boat 12 or 24?

I want to be certain, EST (Eastern Standard Time) is not the same as Eastern Daylight Saving Time. Here on the east coast of the US we are currently on Eastern DST. Since you would be on live right now if it was actually meant to be Eastern Standard Time, then you must mean 3pm (eastern) Daylight Saving Time. Correct?
