Added 2024-06-21 12:34:23 +0000 UTCHappy Friday friends! After some of the dreamiest weeks of our lives in Tahanea, it's finally time to hit the (watery) road again! And we must have done something to make Poseidon happy because we are gifted some truly perfect, proper champagne sailing conditions...and we are REALLY in for a treat when the wind comes in just right to put up our beloved spinnaker. We're just on a daysail to the nearby atoll of Fakarava, and honestly we wished it was further, we weren't ready to stop! We make our arrival and don't waste any time in busting out the dive gear. You might remember Fakarava from our video we did about the grouper spawning (if you missed that one, make sure and check it out, it's one of our all time favs! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vtis-Su8joU ). The groupers are not here in mass this time, but the sharks haven't gone anywhere. We dive into a wall of HUNDREDS of sharks, a feeling that never ever gets old. This is one of our favorite dive sites of all time, so for all you dive lovers you are in for a real treat on this one!

I am extremely happy to watch however, my love of the Ocean, Seas, and water in general, would not overcome my fear of being able to join you physically, unfortunately, from life experiences. The same sibling whom taught me to swim and snorkel also set the fear of sharks not only for me but also for his daughter. Pity! Note: I have snorkled and scuba dived in The Bahamas and USVI in my much younger days but found I could no longer return to underwater adventures a few years later. Thank you for your wonderful videos (and narrative, Brian) allowing me to come along for the ride (or dive!). From someone instilled (unfortunately) with such fear of the undersea life, I wholly support your expierenced exposure of your love of the underwater world to Sierra. I only wish I had not been so negatively impacted so I could have also experienced such wonder!

I'm not sure why (I don't speak it), but it's just really cool to me that Brian took the time to learn Karin's native tongue, and that you're raising Sierra to be bilingual.

It's surprising how all those sharks don't see human beings as an easy meal. I also hope that the coral comes back and/or remains healthy! And Sierra, . . . she's beginning to be a pretty good swimmer. : - )

While snorkeling off Marathon in the Keys around 2005 ...... after diving on the vibrant Sombrero Reef by the lighthouse ...... we drove over NE a couple miles to Delta Shoals (a "smoke" riding a horse in cowboy time). It was mostly shallow ... about 7' deep, and the entire area was bone white! Remnants of broken up coral was everywhere ...... with only the occasional conch walking across. Sad. Some coral was removed and is being raised offsite ...... to try and repopulate the Keys Coral. This is the first time I remember you running into it, except your passage by Key West. Keep 'em flyin
