Early Cut of Futurama (Part 2) & Removed Material
Added 2024-06-21 14:00:15 +0000 UTCIt's finally here! Part 2 of the Making of Futurama!
This is an near completed cut. Rae has yet to do a final audio pass on it, so some line readings or footage will change for the final video. As usual, we will have to reduce the music tracks significantly before it's posted on YouTube. So enjoy the louder music as this is usually the real version of these videos that no one really gets to see/hear.
Final version goes up on Wednesday!
Also, while I never have longer cuts of these videos, I do in fact write too much from time to time. Here are two paragraphs that I decided to remove from this video:
In the absence of Futurama, fans could find other forms the show had taken over the years. There was a widely forgettable video game back in 2003. Released merely 2 days after the Fox finale, it received generally weak reviews. However, sandwiched around its dull gameplay was roughly 30 minutes of 3D cutscenes, written by series regular, J. Stewart Burns, and voiced by the main cast. Generally considered non-canon by fans, Cohen on other hand called it the 73rd episode, and they wanted to include it as a DVD extra. Unfortunately, developer UDS shut down years prior, and the original files for the cutscenes were lost. Cohen’s team had to screen capture the footage themselves on an Xbox. Futurama: The Lost Adventure can be found on the DVD for The Beast with a Billion Backs.
The next attempt at a video game, Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow, came in 2017 (4 years after the finale). The pay-to-win mobile title should barely be mentioned outside the fact that its intro cinematic and all their promos are fully animated and voiced by the whole cast. And to promote the game, there was a special 45-minute audio only episode called Radiorama, debuting on The Nerdist Podcast. Being a massive fan of the show, host Chris Hardwick pitched the idea of a radio play to Groening and Cohen a year earlier. With the release of the mobile game, it provided a good opportunity to make it happen.
Hope you enjoy the video!

I don’t know what Fox’s vendetta was but the stupidity of these execs amazes me. If they gave Futurama a good spot and promotion that would’ve made more money. it wouldn’t just be a cult classic. Hollywood never respected voice actors. Actors that have that in their wheelhouse have a unique talent that many other actors don’t have. They have to convey so much without relying on body language but enough so the animators can see their performances Dreamsworks should be put on trial for some of their choices. Now they think they can replace them with robots? I didn’t realize Skynet was so into arts and humanities.
