Monthly Update for June
Added 2017-06-26 16:48:18 +0000 UTCWhoa. There's been a whole lot more of you show up in the last few days. I guess my new platformer series is off to a good start!
I plan to add to that series once every two weeks. So this week will be a different topic covered, next week we'll be back to the platformer series. Hopefully videos will be back to my kinda private goal of one-a-week with huge things like my GMS2/GMS1.X comparison video out of the way. I hope you've been enjoying the new editing in my videos, I've finally learned to use After Effects at a basic level and it's helped out a ton with text effects and visual stuff in general. Well worth the time after not really understanding what the tool was even for for years of video production.
With the workshops and stuff that was taking up time previously also out of the way I'm finally back to cracking on with some actual game dev! I've been working with Gina Nelson, a 2d game artist to create a new look for Tribal Tension and it's coming along really well, some of you will have seen this stuff on twitter or on my stream already. The game isn't likely to bring in a lot of money for me but it's such a fun project, I'm really looking forward to bringing all the new art together.
The last couple of days I've been working on some fancy wave effects which again you might have seen on twitter:

As per usual I've been asked about tutorials for this. I only like to do videos on stuff that I have _confidence_ in. This stuff I'm learning as I go and I prefer to avoid teaching bad habits (Where I can!).
Howeverrrrr
If you guys are interested I might upload a simple demo of the effect and let you guys at the source code if you want to experiment with it/learn it yourselves. It's a simple effect really! That'd be a patreon only dealy.
I haven't decided on a topic for this week's video but I have a few things in mind. That's going to take up probably the next two or three of days.
I'm streaming more often on twitch now (twitch.tv/shaunjs) and I'm trying to commit to streaming some game development every Monday. Also helps me not get stuck "only ever working on tutorial videos" as has happened to me in the past.
Bunch of new $20 supporters which is nuts, your rewards will come at the start of July after I get the payment report from Patreon. Thank you all ever so much, this month has given me a lot of hope and drive as I had worried I might never get my patreon or even my youtube income back to a sustainable level after being away from it all for so long.
I feel like I'm really back into the swing of things again so I'm hyped for making more stuff =)
Any questions or suggestions, as ever, you know what to do. Drop em below. <3 <3
