Week 15 - A semblance of routine

What was, is and will be:

Last Friday I released the latest Platformer episode to the public, and released the new Wall jumps video to $5+ supporters. This week I'll be working on Platformer episode 17  and putting out a new poll for the topic covered afterwards. I've also done a mini-livestream the last couple of Fridays, the last one you can check out here where I spend 3 hours making a YouTube livestream chat overlay!

In other words everything is more or less chugging along as normal again. With no scheduled interruptions until mid May! So let's get some videos done eh?

I've gone over my routine in the past but these posts come and go and new patrons come and go so I want to go over it again so y'all know how I work:

Mondays: Patreon updates & admin. I write this post! I collate names for the credits I make sure I've answered any questions or emails from patrons and do anything else needed to update my "platforms". Be this changing YouTube meta data, descriptions, thumbs, updating patreon text/rewards, updating my website, itch pages, etc etc. It's clean up & planning day, basically! Just writing this post every week really helps me plan out the week(s) ahead.

Tuesdays - Thursdays: I work on a video until it's done. This is my priority before doing anything else in a week. I don't officially commit anywhere to weekly videos (that I'm aware of..?) but that's my private aim. Some videos don't support this and need longer. I'm just one guy, good editing takes real time, and only certain types of videos can be made really quickly.

Fridays:  I upload a video, mark it unlisted and release it here for $5 supporters. Along with all the meta-work this entails. Thumbnails, descriptions, itch.io source code setup, etc etc. I'll do this earlier if I finish the video earlier in the week, which can happen sometimes with simpler videos, or videos that have crossed into multiple weeks. I also publicly release the video from the previous week. Public releases are always on Fridays. Any extra time on Friday I tend to spend on either freelance work or my personal projects. I don't tend to seek out freelance work anymore since passing my $1k goal here, but I still get requests and some I'll accept if it doesn't impede on my week too much. Fridays are also becoming the day I do live streams, which fits in well with working on my personal projects!

Weekends + evenings after ~5:30pm: I switch off, usually. I also give myself the same bank holidays etc as my local friends. Self care is important! I try to actively avoid checking emails or doing any work outside of personal projects at the weekend.

This is all just my personal structure of work and will fluctuate and change as it needs to. Sometimes I have a bad day and I just stop working early to cut my losses. Other times I ride a wave of good feelings and work longer than I normally would. But just thought I'd fill you in on how and when I typically do the work you're supporting.
