Week 30 - Resolution is a toughy
Added 2018-07-30 13:36:45 +0000 UTCI don't know if I ever explained the week count that I apply to these updates. I count the weeks mostly for myself, starting with the first week of the year. Part of doing these updates is for myself, too. Even though plans ebb and change constantly it helps a lot to keep track of what I've accomplished in a given week and what my plans are. It also weirdly helps stem the feeling of time passing faster and faster and stops me from losing days to that sort of strange, inertia life takes on when you're not really cognizant of what you're doing. Dunno, it helps me! I recommend it. Track your weeks! Months feel too long and blurry to scope, days feel too granular and specific. Weeks were just right for me. (Although sometimes I like the idea of fortnights too! That can work.)
ANYWHO. Platformer Ep went live on Friday. The next one has been a bit of a pain. I lost quite a bit of time to frantically trying to force it to fit into a weekly time frame but I think it's time that I loosen that goal. I've spoken about this before and I know you all understand when something takes a few days extra but some part of myself still stupidly thinks all videos can (and must) be done in a week. Given that YouTube ad revenue is such a small (relatively) part of my income now I need to stop caring about that sort of thing and chase quality all the way.
The poll we ran was reasonably conclusive. I've suspected for a while based on previous polls that many of you here are following along with the platformer series. (I hope you can stick around when it's over ;) ) So it didn't surprise me that many of you just want to see it finished. So that's what I'm going to commit to now. I'll just work on that series, bringing the release of parts much closer together, get it finished and then we'll come back to tackle a new Melee Attacks video, or perhaps an expansion on my previous melee video.
I think this is probably the most sensible thing to do right now (so thanks for voting for it!) as I have noticed that the gap between each episode of the platformer is both something that puts off viewers who crave Regular Content™, and more importantly is something that leaves me having to re-familiarize myself with "where I left off" every other week. So this will probably help the quality of the last few parts.
So that's the plan. I'm not going to bother committing to any dates on these videos but I am always privately targeting Friday releases. So that's going to be the best day to check your emails just in case!
Thanks everyone again for your invaluable support.
