TL;DR: Patreon have had issues lately, please just take a second to check that your payments are going through ok. The vast majority of you should be fine.

Hello! Video is on its way, just wanted to drop some info about some issues I heard Patreon is having with payments recently in particular.

This is what they told me:

"You may be aware that [In August] there were some issues with declined payments, and confusion caused by patrons seeing a new descriptor on their bank account. "

Now I personally didn't see a particular uptick in declines in August. I did in September but had put that down to the sizeable increase in pledges. A lot of new pledges tends to come with a few declines, a few people leaving after the first payment goes out, etc. It always tends to "rebalance" a little. As you can see, my public monthly income is now just under $1400 as opposed to just above it. This is very normal movement for me and doesn't seem out of the ordinary.

But I have noticed a couple of supporters being declined who have otherwise supported for a long time without issue, and that seems odd to me. Might have any number of explanations. But just wanted to give you a heads up to be sure. Patreon should have contacted you if there are any issues so please check up on your status and make sure your payments have been going through ok!
