Week 37 - I've had better!
Added 2018-09-24 14:35:51 +0000 UTCI'll be honest, it's been a bit of a weird and rough week. I've developed a a not-too-painful but very persistent headache that seems to come and go especially in the evenings. Its been screwing with my sleep a lot and leaving me feeling very tired throughout the day. Painkillers help but I always feel very reluctant to use them unless I have to. I think it might be related to pains in my back and neck from my awful posture over the years. I've invested in a back brace thing to help encourage me to sit and stand up-right and see if this helps the issue! It's long overdue I did something about my gremlin posture.
I released the final episode of the Platformer last week but I still haven't managed to make much progress on the PixelFX review beyond actually using the tool (it's quite good, but also quite hard to use & learn!) and making lots of notes. So I'm still working on that.
I've gotten TONS of games through after that submission video. I've made the video unlisted now to prevent further entries but you can still see it via the Patreon post. Which works out as a fun extra bonus for you all if you still want to submit games.
I'll do a livestream of some of them (Tomorrow?) and we'll see how it goes. There's a ton of them to get through!
In other news the Poll last week came up a TIE! Melee Attacks Revisited and also Recording a Player Ghost. So I guess I'm doing both!
So lots of projects on the cards, not much else to say other than I'm going to be cracking on with it. I expect that will be much of what these updates have to say over the next few weeks while hopefully more videos start to emerge!

Gosh. Well I haven't reached 8 months yet! I didn't have the headache over the last couple of days so I'm hoping for a continued improvement.
2018-09-25 14:34:52 +0000 UTCI'm very happy to have supporters who both understand and care about these kind of problems and that you would actively encourage me to favour my health and I'm ceaselessly amazed and enormously grateful. I just want you to know though that I do understand this and I share your attitude and concern. I did very little work last week, not because I necessarily felt completely unable to but because I wanted to rest and avoid using painkillers et al. I may talk about it in what appears dismissive language but that is usually just a side effect of me not wanting to over concern my supporters or to dwell on other aspects of my life. While I find it important to be super transparent in these updates it also helps me to keep a little distance and keep it largely about "The Work". Even though I do understand that I am more than, and worth more than, the work. :)
2018-09-25 14:32:40 +0000 UTCI had an 8 month persistent headache 2 years ago, that no doctor, specialist or neurologist could figure out, nothing on MRI, not "sick" but not my fittest and generally stressed and anxious. Anyway, a twist of fate and I committed to a whole foods plant based diet, and over the course of ~3 weeks, an 8 month headache that I was waking up with and going to sleep with... was gone. :O 2 years later and still committed to a WFPB diet, I'm still a hobbiest game maker with an IT office job (and bad posture!) , but now I also now run marathons too - and no headache. The diet changed my life, and as I love your work and the skills that you share with me Shaun, I only wish that I may share good health with you. <3

2018-09-25 02:57:58 +0000 UTCPlease, please, please make your health the priority. You need to get to the bottom of what is causing your pain. Without trying to scare you, but persistent pain can lead to chronic pain (that gets hard wired into your brain). It is not normal to be in pain, and the idea that you just push through it is BS.
