Week 45 - Swords & Ghosts
Added 2018-11-14 13:31:08 +0000 UTCBoth parts of the highly-requested-and-subsequently-voted-for Melee tutorial are now live for $5 Patrons. Part 1 will be publicly released on YouTube this Friday (at around 7:30pm GMT) and Part 2 on the following Friday.
Next up, as you might be able to tell from the poll above, I'm going to be working on a video about recording a player ghost as seen in my game PokeyPoke.
Using some JSON magic we can manually record a player's position, animation, etc and play it back in our game however we like. The footprint for this method is surprisingly small in practical terms. Potentially allowing hours of recording for only a few Mb*.
The uses for this range from tutorials and NPCs to speedrun & race ghosts set by players themselves.
I'm setting no official estimate on when this will be done but I'd like to imagine it coming to $5 supporters some time next week. Additionally a new poll will be run to help decide what comes next for tutorials.
In the meanwhile I also plan to include some livestreams this week and also make some more progress on PokeyPoke now that I'm a bit more caught up in the tutorial department!
