Week 46 - PokeyGhosts
Added 2018-11-19 17:33:24 +0000 UTCIt's #ThankYouPatrons day! Apparently! It's a thing Patreon made up as another excuse if for some reason we needed one to once again thank you all for your support in making what creators do possible. Patreon as a company might have made some questionable missteps in the past but I still believe wholeheartedly in the idea behind this platform and the existence of this model for creators is so important not just for my entire career and livelihood but also that of so many others who give endlessly to a culture and economy that is otherwise unprepared to support, reward or uplift their work.
You are literally the reason we can have nice things. Not often the way around you hear that is it? Yet here we are.
This week YouTube subscribers and the world at large are getting access to Part 2 of the melee tutorial, already live for many of you here. ($5+)
Some of you might have noticed some sporadic gifs from PokeyPoke on twitter as I've been using some time to push that boulder further up the hill. The plan for that game is much more refined than it has ever been and I'm excited about making more progress on it. I've also started finally using Source Control after being convinced of it's long term advantages even for a solo developer. Does this mean source control tutorials? Not right away, I barely know what I'm doing! But maybe in the future.
Tutorial wise this week I'm still putting together a video on ghosts as I mentioned last week. I hope to have that done by Friday. I planned to do more livestreams last week but to be frank I just didn't really feel up to it and I was exploring lots of ground I was unfamiliar with (which doesn't make for very exciting streams) we're all better served if I keep my head down and focus when I need to. This is why my streams seem to be so irregular! It's hard to commit to streaming say, "X times every week on such and such days" because I don't know if I'll have something good to stream, if my time might be spent better elsewhere, if I'll even have the social energy for it, and so on. It's a toughy! Full time streamers have it harder than you'd expect. But I still do want to do more of it.

I'm really glad that economic systems like patreon exists, so lots of good creators can have a nice income and us can have lots of useful things and also being next to people we have as an inspiration, thank you so much for your good job Shaun
