Week 7 - Best laid plans

So here's a look at the high level Plan™ for the Action RPG tutorial. Or what's going into it. For the uninitiated this might seem very simple, but there's a huge amount here that easily out scopes our previous 27 part Platformer series. You all really wanted this subject so we ought to do it justice!

As I said before, this is going to be a while coming. Not only do I have to code all of the above, but the image above doesn't account for all of the art assets that also need preparing too. Then once all that is done and the code has been cleaned up as best I can, I have to plan an order for the videos. The reason is that it might make sense to do some stuff earlier or later than I originally built it.

Then I have to script those videos (not in huge detail, but enough to cover the steps and provide me with the code snippets). Then I have to record them all. Edit them all. Render them all. Upload them all. YouTube Meta-Data & Thumbnail them all.

It's a huge undertaking.

As a result, I'll be providing updates as we go on the progress and behind the scenes looks at things. Maybe we'll stream the development in places too.

When I get to the video stage I haven't yet decided how to handle releases, whether to simply finish everything first, make everything available to patrons then slowly release them on YouTube, or finish one video at a time and release them in a stagger like with the platformer, or what. We'll see when I'm closer to that stage.
