Week 8 - Humble beginnings of a Zelda Like Thing

So I've begun putting together the art assets for our RPG series. There's a whole lot to make, but here's a sneaky peek:

It's early days. Working out how I want to approach this whole thing is a challenge and there's been some pretty serious 'pre-production' as you might have gathered from my last update. 

Last week I released a video of some of the viewer games we've been streaming along with what might just have to be my new default livestream thumbnail. We'll do a bit more of that on Friday and some more PokeyPoke too. 

A fancy new monitor?

Something else I hadn't yet mentioned, BenQ recently got in touch with me about whether or not I could help them review a 4k monitor, in return I get to keep the monitor. Normally these kind of emails go straight in the trash but I blinked when this time it was coming from a pretty legit company with a product that's... actually relevant to me.

So I vaguely agreed to do a video and they sent me a monitor. Wow, didn't think it would be as simple as that?

While I didn't sign any kind of contract I did agree to do a video. So within the next month you can expect an honest look one of BenQ's fanciest new products as we learn whether or not It Is Good™. 

I should note that I've not been paid anything (other than the monitor itself) and have no partnership or affiliation with BenQ. Etc. But it did occur to me after the weird excitement had settled that even a simple review is going to impact on my work and that I should keep you all better informed & involved in deciding whether or not to do this kind of thing. Quite honestly I just found it quite hard in the moment to turn down a cool new monitor? I'm not used to this kind of thing! But will try and be more careful going forwards. I think you'll like the video though! And the extra resolution is allowing me to do some very cool stuff with up scaled graphics (like the screenshot above).

I dunno if there will be a Video this week, but if there is it'll probably be livestream related. Most of my time is going into this RPG thing and any spare time into livestream & PokeyPoke.
