Real life continues to be a bit of a clusterfuck. Every time I think I'm getting a handle on stuff, something goes off the rails, and it's starting to feel a bit like...

I'm bumping the final audio of Februdere to a public release of March 2nd, with early access for patrons tomorrow. I'll be recording/editing one of my backup scripts tonight, because all my previous plans are in utter disarray. That will be:

This will be a remake of an old audio from 2022, plus the next 5 scripts in the series! You voted on this one in the sequels poll a couple months back and I put it on the slate then. I hoped to do it this month, but then this month happened, so. :')

This series has some "light tsundere bully to light yandere lover" themes. I recorded 3.5 of the 5 scripts in this series this past week, aiming for a milder take on the material, but...I hated it. I HATED IT. (Not the scripts! The performance! The scripts are fantastic.)

I was trying to lean into a kinder, gentler, less threatening vibe, and it just didn't work. I wrestled for a couple of days with my dislike of softening the harder edges of the character and the storyline and the dislike won. The yandere themes were also quite mild, and felt like a poor fit for the event the longer I sat with them, so I've scrapped it for now.

But, I do intend to do it, so it's been moved into Monster Girl Mayhem where it fits much better.

A better fit for Februdere, but with everything else falling in on my head, this just got too long to finish. After I cried about it, I dusted myself off, set the files aside and shifted it ahead on the schedule.

In somewhat better news: Tonight and tomorrow morning, Patreon exclusives are going out! Yay! Velvet managed to do something on time-ish!

Expect those over the next few hours as I finish any necessary retakes and the final post-production pass. Maybe as late as tomorrow morning if rendering and uploading is a jerk again.

Other news: I'm in negotiations with writers to commission continuations of a couple of well-loved audios that didn't have any more installments. We'll see if/when those happen! It looks good at the moment, but I don't want to jinx it.

I have also updated the Vanilla Velvet Audio membership badges on YouTube:

 I never thought we'd get to a point where someone would earn the 24 month badge, but...it's happened! A few times! :D

There are also a few other fiddly things happening behind the scenes (thumbnail testing continues, etc.) but I haven't gotten to do nearly as much as I wanted this month.

My plan is to use ALL of my downtime in March and April to get ahead on the next few months of work so when summer busy hits I'm not completely overwhelmed. I need more time to breathe and throwing myself at the pile to try and get ahead by a month or two is the only way that's going to happen. I need a healthy backlog set up for the next time something goes tits up, as has been the case lately.

When I started my channel, I was able to do that pretty handily, but admittedly that was when my average audio length was in the 10-15 minute range. That average is now 30+ minutes, not including creating Patreon exclusives. Three times as much is a bit more difficult to handle, as you may imagine! Even though that's the amount of work I want to be releasing. (Creatively, I'm not as satisfied with 10-15 minute one shots anymore. Alas, I crave making stories with a bit more meat these days!)

I'd rather not take the summer off again this year if I can help it, but who knows how many walls in my house will melt between now and then? (Hopefully none but I have learned I can't rule it out!)
