1958 BRM P25 v0.90 Early Access Release! - Assetto Corsa

The 1958 BRM P25 was a Formula One race car designed and built by British Racing Motors (BRM) in the late 1950s. The car featured a front-engine layout with a 2.5-liter straight-four engine, producing approximately 275 horsepower at 8,000 rpm. Unlike many of its competitors, which used V8s or more complex multi-cylinder engines, the P25's inline-four was a more simple design choice. The chassis was a lightweight steel tubular frame, with a double wishbone suspension at the front and a de Dion tube combined with coil spring struts at the rear. Power was sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed gearbox. The car uniquely featured only three Girling disc brakes, one on each front wheel, and one located inboard for the entire rear axle (70% brake balance was the default). The P25 had a total weight of around 690 kg (1,521 lbs).

Although the BRM P25 showed promise, its results were mixed, often plagued by mechanical unreliability. It took several seasons before BRM finally secured a major victory. The highlight of the P25's career came at the 1959 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, where Jo Bonnier claimed BRM’s first ever Formula One World Championship win. Before this breakthrough, the P25 had frequently been competitive in qualifying but struggled to finish races due to engine and gearbox failures. The car also earned multiple podium finishes, notably with Harry Schell and Jean Behra, who were able to extract strong performances from the P25 despite its reliability concerns.
