1915 Ford Model T Speedster v1.0 Release! - Assetto Corsa

With the advent of the Ford Model T suddenly the market was flooded with affordable automobiles that could be tweaked, modified and adapted to just about any imaginable job. This birthed the local short track scene in the United States as pioneering auto mechanics, tinkerers, and hopeful local racers began to modify their Model Ts for the racetrack. Model T owners were shedding weight by tossing away heavy factory steel fenders and bodywork and replacing them with lightweight and simplified speedster bodies. As the T evolved, so did the concept of the speedster. Early examples were simply cut down roadsters, while later examples got custom bodies designed to cheat the air and ditch the pounds.

Usually the chassis was lowered four inches, called “underslinging”, the wheelbase slightly extended, and the basic 20 HP motor “hopped up” with an Overhead Valve Conversion (OHV) kit ordered from Roof or RAJO, hotter cams, a balanced crankshaft with pressure oiling, and side-draft or up-draft carburetors. The stock body was replaced with a sharp looking “Speedster Body” complete with a monocle windshield, and the heavy wooden wheels were replaced with strong and lightweight wire wheels. Some cars retained standard Ford wings and some did away with them altogether. A complete kit of radiator, hood, floorboards, rear gasoline tank, and body could be purchased for around $100. The Speedster body wasn't just for looks; it made the Model T go faster by making it lighter, cutting down the frontal area, and streamlining it. Just making these changes could add 10 to 15 miles an hour to the top speed.

v1.0 Changelog:
1. Added historical driver names from 1915.
2. Minor adjustment to driver camera.
3. Minor adjustment to timing of LOD loading.
4. Minor adjustment to UI description.
5. Revised all secondary camera views.

REQUIRED:
– 1923 Driver Model by Nicecuppatea
– HSS mods require the use of Custom Shaders Patch by Ilja to enable the advanced features and work properly.

Currently Featuring:
1. Animated leafspring suspension.
2. Fully animated driver (steering, shifting, feet & pedals).
3. 20 liveries, along with historical drivers from 1915!
4. Four historically accurate gauges: Clock, speedometer, battery, and engine temperature.
5. Historically accurate physics based upon researched data. We also have used CSP extended physics to include more accurate additional physics simulation:
      a. CSP advanced physics tire code to enable a physical tire simulation (as opposed to a single contact point).
      b. RainFX support.
      c. Brake temperatures fully simulated, including brake fade.
      d. Specified the exact fuel density of the Benzene, Xylene, & Gasoline mixture for fuel weight CG purposes.
      e. Tire wear visuals, so you can actually see the tires wearing. And the tire will even explode visually if they blow.
      f. Visual tire flex and deformation.
      g. Transmission damage model.
      h. Engine damage model, with misfiring and power loss based on current engine health.
      i. Dozens of advanced CSP improvements over default Assetto Corsa physics engine.
