Notes for the monthly payments

First off I want to say that I'm grateful to every one of my patrons, the fact that you all enjoy my stuff enough to support me like this really warms my heart. But there's a pretty pressing issue that I need to address with all the rest of the stuff that's happening lately with Patreon, and that would be the issue of payments.

Firstly, charge up front is active, which means that you will be charged on the day that you pledge and the start of the month from then on. I have this, as many creators do, to prevent people from getting all of the content and then leaving before they have to pay. This is not always malicious, and this next part is what I want to address, sometimes patrons just plain don't have the money.

When you don't have the money to pay your pledge, it lists you as a declined patron, and denies you access to the exclusive content. Where I'm going with this is that while I'm glad to have that protection, as well as knowing that you're not getting overdraft fees for spending money you don't have, it's also quite demoralizing.

If you were watching the number of patrons and the amount of money that I was earning at the end of last month, you would have seen that I had 19 patrons and a total of $42 a month. That number, because of declined patrons, has now dropped to 15 and $29, so you can imagine how bummed that made me to wake up to. I am very understanding of anyone that doesn't have the money to pay, god knows that I've been short on money, that's one of the major reasons I opened this thing, but even if you don't have the money to pay I would insist that you send me a message so we can discuss if you want. If you're on the $5 tier but won't have that, consider dropping to the $3 or even $1 tier for that month, any amount is better than zero. Then once you're in a more stable position, raise your pledge again, you're not always locked into a single amount.

This is not to show that I'm angry at anyone, far from it, everyone's financial situation is different, especially with how unsure many of our economies are, but I promise that I understand and just wish for you to check your finances before the month is up. I still get to put food on the table, and you still get to know that you're a part of that.
