Not that there was anything wrong with the ages in ATLA, but the characters being older adds to the increased maturity of the story. And I'm not going to address Morgan's intrusive thoughts xD

For example aang wasn't able to protect his people and didn't want to become the avatar initially but now Korra is all about it. Its an interesting idea just thought id mention it here.
