This is the scene where the Drill Instructor is chewing out all of the new cadets. One commanding officer comments on how he occasionally skips certain cadets, to which the other replies ‘Those who have undergone the rite of passage (Extreme stress, probably trauma) need not repeat it.’ Guess which members of the 104th the camera cuts to as these lines play? Eren, Mikasa, Annie, Reiner, Bertoltd and Ymir.

2022-03-15 21:45:49 +0000 UTCWhat a glorious reaction LOL. There are SOOOO many hints in season 1 about Reiner and Bertoltd that I picked up on re watching this with you guys. In ep 2 someone asks Eren if they saw the Armored and Colossal titans and the camera cuts straight to Reiner. It's Reiner who pushes everyone to save the Eren titan before anyone knew that it was Eren. Reiner and Bert freak out when Eren transforms to stop the cannon ball bc they obviously recognize the transformation. This season Reiner was urging Connie to sneak out (and he was going to help him) bc he felt something was wrong when they had them in quarantine. I am sure I've missed more but that's the show, they'll set things up with the smallest things and then knock them all down later.

His casual "I'm the armored titan" is just so weird and off-putting. And the MUSIC in that scene. Crazy. Chills. The chilling intro as the sun peaks through the clouds, and how it rises as Reiner pulls off his sling. Then the vocals as they transform... holy shit. It's also really entertaining how with every crazy reveal y'all go way into conspiracy theory detective town and spin all these crazy ideas. I love it.

Did I read the subtitles correctly? Did my eyes deceive me? What?!? Such an amazing reveal and story swerve.

2022-03-15 19:52:37 +0000 UTCReiner never actually knew about the plan to capture Annie, remember him, Connie and Sasha were chilling and then Titans popped up and they had to evacuate villages, its around the same time frame. There's the scene in Season 1 when Armin, Jean and Reiner are stranded without a horse where Armin almost spills the beans and tells him he thinks Erwin is planning to capture the Female Titan. I only caught it on rewatch but Jean interrupts him when he spots Historia riding towards them. Imagine if Reiner found out and had to decide right then what to do.
