Winry promised Al an apple pie when he got his body back, that is what Ed was reminding her of. And admittedly, the series really goes from 0 to 100 in terms of fan service late in the game lol but Ed's free show will be the last of it. Nothing but action from here on out

I don't think "slum" isn't that crazy of a word given the show's setting is in the year 1915 lol. And Winry's apple pie is an established thing! It was on Al's list of foods he's excited to eat when he gets his body back.

I love how the show ages its young characters. There are several reasons that might explain why Ed has grown so much in a short span of time: 1. He used himself as a philosopher's stone when impaled, shaving a couple years of his life off, thus he migh be physically older looking, 2. Since we saw him last he's had his lighter northern automail on, the automail mechanic in rush Valley said heavy automail might have stunted Ed's growth. 3. Ed and Al have a soul connection. as Al gets closer and closer to returning to his body in the portal, Ed isnt eating and sleeping for two as much. 3. Hes 15/16 years old. Boys tend to rapidly grow at that age. Ive seen boys that age grow an entire foot within 2 months time. I love that shot of Ed towering over Winry. Now she can finally consider him as a potential candidate for boyfriend as she said when she was younger haha. No shade to all the short kings, Ed's still your representative in soul.

Eds comment about the apple pie does have some context - some 30ish episodes ago Winry mentioned to Ed and Al that she'd gotten a recipe for apple pie from Hughes' wife Gracia and that she'd been practicing making it hoping it would be the first thing Al would get to eat once he'd gotten his body back

After all this fan service directed at straight boys (lets be real), I kinda want the crew to watch "Yuri On Ice" for some of that incredibly gay fanservice that's also age appropriate lol I really like this show, and being written by a woman it's got better portrayal of women than a lot of other shounen of the time, tho sadly what that really shows is just how bad the standard was back then (and in some cases continues to be today)
