Been a lil' leary of Marvel kinda stuff lately, so we're a lil' late jumping on board BUT HOLY HELL is this the horny, nostalgia drenched, but keenly updated comic book soap opera THAT WE NEEDED!
We get cozy with the first two episodes of X-Men '97 and we're really digging the vibe, much like all the rest of these pan-sexual horn dogs in this show!
Loving the glow up of Cyclops despite the fact he sounds EXACTLY like Jerry from Rick & Morty!
Also digging the INCREDIBLY WOKE AND PRECIENT messaging in episode 2! Almost like this how this fucking property has always been!

2024-04-08 17:35:03 +0000 UTCThe thing is, I wouldn't even call this particularly woke 😂 I was honestly fucking astounded by some of the Internet's reaction to this show, even from the idiots who never knew what the X-Men were always about since their inception. Like...Magneto is saying shit like "I'm not even asking you to like us, just please allow us to exist in this world without trying to exterminate us" and people are like "THIS WOKE MESSAGING IS OUT OF CONTROL. THE INDOCTRINATION!" He didn't even name the Nazis or the Holocaust, just "I was persecuted for my religion", the most inoffensive abbreviation of his backstory ever. The goals of Magneto and the X-Men aren't even particularly about acceptance from humanity or a happily integrated society of humans and mutants...they literally are just at step one: please allow us to exist in the same world as you. It's so fucking sad that we're still at discussing step one in real life dude.

They get any ability that comes from the physiology of the person they turn into and only what comes from the physiology, though that does include in-organic material. (Them getting Psylocke's swords, however, is not in their powerset, but rule of cool). They've also a low to lower-mid level telepath, though not in a controlled sense. Their transformations have a psionic component effecting the perception of the people observing them.

2024-04-06 21:36:40 +0000 UTC"Glow up." My friends, they are ust treating Cyke the way he's been treated in comics for decades even preceeding the original 90s cartoon. Cyclops is the center point between Xavier and Magneto. Skillwise, he's on Captain America's level, having been able to take down the whole team solo without using his powers. He would be a white suburban dad who grills on the weekends if life would just let mutants do that, but since it won't he does not hesitate to make it everyone responsible's problem. There's also a reason that, while Cyke is leader of Blue team, Storm is his equal leading Gold team. And shouldn't be underestimated with or without her powers.
