ahhh so excited for these!!! i was just looking for violin poses!

No he's not in an orchestra (he never cared) but these are interesting details!

kibbitzer

Is he in an orchestra? I'm not trying to be a troll, just share information for people planning on using these references. In 99% of places it is wrong and backwards. Professional (and no professional) orchestras all have to have the instruments facing the same direction. It would look really wonky to have one person's instrument facing the opposite direction from everyone else around them. Also, a violin held this way in an orchestra would be outputting the sound to the back of the stage rather than the audience. I've been playing in orchestras and solo for most of my life and so it's hard to ignore when artists depict holding the violin incorrectly. I understand you based this off your brother, but I find it really odd since left handed violinists who aren't self-taught are taught to hold it the other way. I'd hate for someone to use this reference and get chewed out by a bunch of critiques for something like this!

Sarah Saunders

I used my left handed brother (violinist) as reference so... I don't see the problem XD Anyway.. There's always someone who says these things. It happened even when I drew left handed swordsmen and it will happen again. It's just a drawing.. I wouldn't use the word "wrong", but it's okay, we can all have our opinions XD

couldn't you just, mirror the image?

Clutz

I'm interested in that comic your working on. Don't overwork yourself tho.

Tremaine Worrell

I hate being that person BUT as a violinist of 21+ years, everyone is holding the violin wrong up there :( They've got it backwards, the bow should be in the right hand, the violin in the left. Even left handed violinists hold it that way!

Sarah Saunders

YEARS you say? The temptation is strong...Thanks for the 3 months of gifts, though, that's greatly appreciated. And definitely a surprise! Really looking forward to September. I love violins. But rest well and stay safe! Don't overwork yourself. Also...comic? I'm interested. Like hands down serious.
