My new machine!

So, I got the new computer home and hooked them both up.  I copied a Daz scene over so that both computers were on the exact same scene with the same lighting, render settings, (ultra HD 16:9) and rendered.

My old computer: 41 minutes 29 secs

My new computer 8 minutes 22 secs

So, there we have it!  This means this investment should have an excellent return by the speed at which I can produce per hour.  Now I might be able to get 5 or 6 done in an hour instead of one or two!  I am exhausted, but I will be giving a weekly progress report on Thursday sometime!

Baal, what kind of stats are on your machine, if you don't mind my asking.

My first computer upgrade was similar. 45 minutes for a character render, and 6 hours for a full scene render turned into 12 minutes and 1.5 hour renders....those were good days :) Now I'm spoiled, with 1 minute character renders and 4 minute full scene renders, I spend more time posing, than rendering. Don't fall into the hardware trap I did. I've vowed not to buy another piece of hardware (not counting replacement parts) for the next 2 years.

It seems like forever ago since I used any DAZ or Bryce products, but I remember that it was possible to link multiple computers together and make a little render farm. A 30 second HD video went from a couple of weeks to render to a couple of days. But that was back when a single core 3gig processor was a hot rod.
