Poll: Release 0.3.0 now?
Added 2021-09-08 19:34:09 +0000 UTCVOTE: Release the bugged 0.3.0 or wait for the programmer to send 0.3.1?
Just to reiterate, over a week ago, I bug tested what the programmer sent me. There were bugs and we discussed a better way to streamline, which meant a reworking of the Renpy script- but also means easier ways to add the future ladies. The programmer has been busy with his real life and work, so, he has not had time to get back to it (again he is a volunteer). So, I thought I'd ask- do you want me to start the cycle with the bugged (but playable) v0.3.0 or wait until he fixes the things I found and release the v0.3.1?

Thank you for that insight, sir! I know this is how you folks usually vote is the wait for me to release. It's been like that on all the novels and now it's been like that on this game, and that helps me see it from your angle much better. To be honest I was always a little bit confused about why people might want to held back, but now that makes a lot of sense.

2021-09-11 18:32:15 +0000 UTCI didn't vote in this, but let me provide reason why I would vote for the no release, since all the comments point otherwise. I've followed a lot of developers that share bug tests. For those who aren't interested in testing it, having a bunch of download versions gets overwhelming. I look at release0.15a and 0.15b and 0.15c and see these miniscule changes between them, so tune out. I end up missing a ton of the actually developed releases because I've tuned out. There are probably a dozen games I haven't touched in over a year because the version I would actually try was buggy and unplayable, and that reflects poorly on the state of the game. From the side of somebody who would test, there also tends to be a flood of reporting the same issue, or different errors stemming from the same root source, that may have been fixed already but still have to be investigated (wasting time). These big issues aren't as simple as typos, but deeprooted things that need a lot more analysis to figure out what went wrong. FIxing one of those deeprooted issues may cure all of the errors, maybe only one. You can only tell by rereleasing it, which leads to a spiral of downloads. In general: With SB:C in particular, I'm not treating each release as further progression in the game. I'm treating it almost like DLC, where we are being introduced to the entirety of a new character arc. There isn't a lack of material here; Anax has other works going on to cycle through, and its the internet. There are tons of other sources to stay captivated by until things are polished. That being said, I think the true answer lies with making a channel on the discord strictly for bugtesting. Feedback can be given there, but each version doesn't have to be sent to everybody. It leads to oversaturation and an expectation of buggy products, which is 100% what kills games before they have a chance to get going. There's a reason why big developers do limited Beta releases.

2021-09-10 17:10:18 +0000 UTCI'm definitely on team "release it now." The nature of early access means the users might even find bugs that you don't find in regular testing. "Polished" is great but the very nature of iterative development releases means it's not gonna be fully polished til the end.

2021-09-10 13:02:56 +0000 UTCOh, I am not arguing at all! Since everyone has different perspectives and I could not decide, I let you investors decide for yourselves democratically. You never know, maybe it will swing the other way as more people vote more in-line with your perspective. I set it to last for two days.

2021-09-09 00:17:46 +0000 UTCjerry is right. The game is easily playable as it is but releasing it now can only help because the more people there are playing the game, the easier it is to find the bugs.

2021-09-09 00:09:15 +0000 UTCI appreciate the feedback! It appears (at least so far) that a lot of fans want the "polished experience" or as close to it as they can get. However, I do understand your logic! That's why I like to let you fans decide things like this rather than me arbitrarily forcing it.
