Blueberry Tests

This is an official story in my Sizeran world.

Blueberry Tests

Penold walked down long rows of blueberry and blackberry fields and ran his fingers along the leafy greens. He couldn’t believe that this is what the people of Terrondale had spent the last six months working on for the Lulvix Alliance. “They said they could give us something to deal with these pesky Draonons. All I see is these fools turned themselves into farmers.” He walked up to the nearest farmhand and raised his voice to its peak. “I want answers. What in tarnation have you people been doing here for the last few months?”

“Ahh, Penold.”

He turned his head, the anger visible on his pale cheeks to see Nora walk up towards him in a luxurious fur coat. “You have better have a good answer for wasting our time on this.” He pointed at the blueberry bush beside him. “Lulvix isn’t someone who is going to be happy that all of his money went into paltry blueberries.”

Nora laughed. “Oh, my good sir. You are in for a wonderful surprise.” She put her gloved hand on this back. “If you would just follow me.”

“Not until you tell me just what is going on. I want to know what you have been up to out here.”

She smiled. “Why working on the weapon you requested.”

“I don’t see anything besides your new taste in agriculture.”

She pushed him towards a massive wooden house. “It is all apart of the plan. Now, will you come this way?”

Penold crossed his arms. “This better be good because so far, I am not impressed."

“Trust me, darling, you will love it.” Nora turned towards her guards at the wooden house, which was locked with an iron bar. “He is with me. My personal guest from the Lulxix Alliance.”

“Yes, ma'am.” They raised their spears. “Come right on in. Everyone is hard at work on the project.”

“Good. I am sure that Penold here will be happy to see our progress.” She smiled as she reached out and opened the door.

Inside, Penold was surprised to find people hard at work with the same berries from outside but mixing them with chemicals. “Eww, it smells horrible in here.” He waved his hand in front of his face. “Just what are you doing in here? Making stink bombs?”

“Oh no. Nothing so primitive.” Nora looked behind her and saw Penold trying to touch a jar of glowing blue and black goo. “Don’t touch that unless you want to spend more than just a few hours here.”

He took his hand away from the container. “Yes. I have better things to do than be stuck in this place. Now, will you show me what we have been funding you for?”

“Just step into through this door if you please.”

He crossed his arms as he walked up to the wooden door. “I hope whatever I came to see is on the other side of this hunk of junk.” He ran his hands along the door frame. “Why is the door bent like this? It looks like you pushed a massive ball into the side of it.”

“All answers will be revealed soon. Now just step inside, please.”

Penold sighed and walked through the doorway. Inside was a room with blue stained walls and a Draonon girl tied up in the center of the room. Her tan and scaly skin shimmered in the dim light as she tried to fight against the rope which bound her to the chair.

Penold crossed his arms as Nora walked into the room and closed the door behind her. “You brought me all the way in here to show me you caught a prisoner?”

“Oh no.” She walked up to the blindfolded Draonon. “We just needed someone to demonstrate our new weapon on. I wasn’t going to use it on any of my people.”

The Draonon woman pulled at her restraints, the chair she was strapped to sliding across the floor. “Let me out of here and give me a fair chance to show off this new weapon of yours, you dogs.”

Nora patted the Draonon on the head. “Sure you will. Just like the rest of your people did when we took your village.” Nora rolled her shoulders and then turned around. “Ellonara, get in here, please.”

A blue-skinned lady ran in with a heavy coat and gloves. She took deep breaths before handing Nora a box. “Here you are.”

Penold crossed his arms. “You take help from people outside the Alliance?”

“That will be all, Ellonara.” Nora turned back to face Penold. “Not at all. Ellonara just had an accident with our new chemicals. She is lucky the potion hadn’t fully been completed, or things might have been worse than a temporary skin rash.”

“Ok. Well, I guess you are doing something.” He watched as Nora took out a vial with shimming blue water. “But it better be more than just making people change in color as we want a weapon, not some new weird fashion sense.”

Nora held her chest and laughed. “Oh my, that is a good one. Don’t worry, what I have to show you will impress you.” She walked over and closed the door. “Ok.” Nora slipped the potion into her pants and walked over to the Dragonon, and untied the woman. “Let’s give our good representative here the show he deserves, shall we?”

The woman ripped off her blindfold. “With pleasure.” Nora handed the young lady the potion. “You wanted a weapon to use against my people? Well, here it is.”

Penold turned around and banged on the curved wooden door. “Hey. There is a traitor in here.”

Nora walked over and grabbed his arms. “No one is going to help you.” She turned him around and slammed him against the wall. “You think they would help a man who took their homes from them?”

“We gave you a choice. Join the Alliance. . .”

“Or what? Be one of your many victims? We joined and still lost our lands as we were forced out into this backwater country that you took from this poor, poor lady. My home town now belongs to your precious Lulvix.” She put her hands on the door as she towered over him. “We weren’t just going to stand by as we were treated like dirt.”

“What do you think you are going to do? You can’t kill me.”

The Draonon woman walked forward. “We don’t intend to. We want you to send a message to your masters.”

“Then let me go. I will be sure to tell them to level this place.”

Nora stood back and pulled the potion from her pocket. “Oh, I think we will be just fine.” She turned to her friend. “Wrentelra, will you hold him down?”

“With pleasure.” Wrentelra grabbed Penold and held his arms behind his back. “You are going to see the fruits of your labor first hand. Hope you enjoy the weapon we made for you.” She forced his mouth open, and Nora poured the blue drink down his mouth.

“Ugh, gross.”

Nora crossed her arms. “Now, of course, what you had isn’t our only way to disrobe what you will experience.” She smiled. “But we can get into that later. You can let him go now.”

Wrentelra released Penold, and he dusted off his grey tunic. “Thank you. Now, if you don’t mind, I am going to make sure you people pay for this indecency.”  He narrowed his eyes. “Ugh.” He slumped down against the door. “What kind of poison did you give me?”

Nora shrugged her shoulders. “I wouldn’t exactly call it poison. You will live. Unfortunately.”

He shook his fist at her. “You think this will get you out of. . .” He looked at the blue color creeping up his arm. “What is happening?” He shook his hand. “Why won’t this stuff come off?”

Nora looked at Wrentelra. “I think we should get to a safe place, don’t you.” She nodded.

Penold looked at them with wide eyes.  “Safe place. What are you talking about?”

Nora and Wrentelra walked through the doorway. Nora took a moment before she closed the door. “Don’t worry, we will be watching through that small window over there.” He followed her hand to see a glass window appear in the wall. “It is reinforced with Terronsteel. Trust me, no matter what happens, it won’t break.”

“Wait!” She shut the door on him. Penold walked over to the glass window. “My whole face is blue. What did they do to me?” He shook his head. “I need to get back to Othronmill. So we can put a stop to. . .” He put his hand over his chest. “Everything is tight all of a sudden.”

Penold looked down to see his stomach slowly push outward. “What in the world?” He hit his fist on the window. “Stop this right now. Ugh.” He put his hand on his chest. “It feels so weird. I feel juices moving around in there.”

Penold took a few steps backward as his midsection began to push outward rapidly.  “This isn’t happening. It can’t be.” He widened his stance to support his new weight. “Stop this right now, and I promise that we will go easy on you.”

There was no answer as his body continued to swell. He tried to push down on his massive belly in an attempt to stop the transformation that was now ravaging his body, but it was no use; his hands just squished his flabby skin downward. “I need to get out of here.” He turned around, barely able to stand on his feet. He could feel his thighs swell and even begin to merge together. “They had chemicals in the other room. Something there can help. Have to hurry. So hard to walk.”

Suddenly Penold fell forward as his stubby legs gave out from under him. “Noo.” He put his arms out to catch himself, but his massive chest stopped him instead. “Ouff.” He shook his head and ran his hands along his expanding torso. “I can’t get up.” He wobbled in place. “Nora! Come out here and stop this nonsense at once.” He looked at his body. “Ok. We can negotiate now. Just stop this from making me swell. I can’t feel my legs anymore. I still have them, right? My body is so round right now I can’t tell.” Rrrrip.

Penold grabbed his chest as it forced his arms further and further away from each other. “No. My clothing can’t handle much more of this.” He closed his eyes. “So much juice. Ugh.” He closed his eyes. “Vision is going blue.”

***

On the other side of the window, Nora and Wrentelra watched as Penold became a giant blueberry. Nora crossed her arms. “See, I told you I had more planned than just making mild skin irritations.”

“Yes, but I still don’t see the practical uses for this. How will we even use this against the Lulvix Alliance? You had to make that fool ingest an altered formula. That won’t work in battle.”

Nora laughed. “Well, as I said, this is all in development, honey.” Penold’s massive body pressed against the glass.

“He won’t break through, will he?”

“Not at all. He can swell up as big as he wants. He isn’t getting out of that room.”

“I don’t know. It seems like he might to me the way the walls are starting to bend.”

“We tested the chemicals on a normal blueberry a few days ago. Sure they can get big but not large enough to break down the room.”

“Ok, then answer my original question. How can this be used outside of well a demonstration?”

Nora smiled. “We are testing on how this can be applied to a subject through airborne means.

But for now, people will have to drink our formula for the reaction to occur.”

“I was afraid of that.” Wrentelra sighed. “In its current state, this is more of something we would use to take out strategic targets until modifications can be made.”

Nora nodded her head. “And they will be. Don’t worry about that.”

The massive blob on the other side of the glass suddenly made a stretching sound. Wrentelra took a few steps back. “Is he supposed to do that?”

Nora shook her head. “No. We have yet to try this on a living being yet, only our blueberries. I don’t know what is going to happen.”

Suddenly the massive blue blog burst, and blueberry juice splattered all over the room. Wrentelra shook her scaly head. “Gross.”

Nora smiled. “That was unexpected. But I like it. I think I will keep this version of the formula special.”

“Why?”

Nora crossed her arms. “Because there are some select people that I think deserve to be blown up like a blueberry for what they did to my people.” She laughed. “But don’t worry. We will make this more practical for mass production.” Nora turned around. “Now, if you will excuse me. I need to find some people to safely clean up this mess and find someone to return the message that Penold was supposed to give. I don’t think a true blue gentleman like him is in any position to be giving reports anymore.” She walked out of the room laughing.
