She tried tureing the raido in for some music. But all the channels were just diffren’t varints of people stressing over the dissiparences. She wasn’t in the mood to listen to them. It was depressing.
As she rounded the next bend the Anderson Family gas station came into view. Veredel slowed down and pulled into the desolate drive. There was only one person filling up at the pump. Usualy at this time of day it was impossible to find an open spot. She parked her car and went about filling up her car.
As she did so her cell phone rang. Veredel checked the number. It was her impacent mother. Of all the-. She could even wait the time it would take me to get there. She answered, trying to be as pleasant as possible. “Hello?”
“Where are you? I thought I told you to be here with my soda by now.”
“I had to stop for gas.”
“Fill up on the way back.”
I rolled my eyes. “I wouldn’t make it to the hosbital.” I was lying. I had enough gas to last until my return trip home from the police station.
