Rise of Luvix Part 1
Alicila stretched her arms as she and Cryrena walked to the top of the trail. “Can we please stop for the day?” Alicila lifted her left foot and rubbed her worn leather shoe. “I can feel my blisters pounding through my shoes.”
Cryrenea gently rubbed her daughers sholder. “We can make camp here.”
Alicila fell down to the ground. “Finnaly.” She crossed her legs and put her hands into her lap. “I hate all of this traveling.”
“Don’t worry. We are almost done.” Cryrena smiled. “Soon we will be at our destination and you can rest all you want.”
Alicila turned her head and narrowed her blue eyes. “You have said that for the past week and every town we pass it is the same old story.” She rolled her eyes. “That is not where we are heading. It is too dangerous. We are not there yet. Let’s not go there Alicia.” She sighed. “What is so wrong with spending some time in one of these towns?”
Cryrena began to pile up firewood. “I just don’t want anything to happen to you.”
“I am a week away from turning twenty. Nothing is going to happen to me.” She sighed. “Besides take in that smell.” Alicila sniffed the air. “You can smell the smoked meat from here.”
“Alicila we have dried mutton.”
Alicila wiced. “Ugh. Yuck.” She stood up and looked out over the nerby town. Gas lights were just now being lit and festival banners hung from the straw roofs. “We could go down there right now and get some real food for once.”
“We will get pleanty of real food when we get to our destination.”
“If we even get there.”
Cryrena sighed. “Ok.” She stood up and reached into her leather pack. “Here. Head down there and buy us some of that smoked meat that you are smelling.” She held up her hands as Alicila’s eyes lit up. “But just get the meat and come back. That town is dangerous.”
Alicila took the silver pieces. “Oh come now. What could possibly happen to me down there?”
Cryrena sighed. “It isn’t exactly safe for people like you and me.”
“What do you mean?” She jossled the coins in her hand for a few moments before she slid them into her pockets. “Just because we roam from town to town?”
“No.”
“Then what?” Alicila turned around. “We are human right?”
“Yes.” Cryrena scratched at her short dark hair. “It is hard to explain. It is just. . .”
“Well I don’t see anything wrong with us. We are no different than all of the traders we have met.” Alicila pulled at her rugged leather tunic. “Do I look different to you?”
“No honey. It isn’t that you look different. It is.” She put her hand on her forhead. “I just.” She sighed. “I am sorry I brought it up. Just promise me you will be carful.”
Alicila smiled and turned around. “Of course. I will be back soon with the food. Love you.”
Cryrena crossed her arms. “Love you to.”

Alicila rushed down the trail and towards the town. Strange smells fought their way into her nose, some wonderful, others the most foul she had ever smelled in her life. More people then she had seen in her life walked through the streets as she approached, going about their dailys lives. A giant banner greeted her as she walked into the town. Welcome to Cresthaven and happy Harvest Season.
Alicila smiled as she slowly walked into the town. “Wow.” She looked at all of the different kinds of shops and people around her. Every time she looked around she saw something new. A store that sold potions, a store which sold shoes, dresses, pies. An inn. A blacksmith. Oh and the people. Alicila gasped in awe at the diversity in Cresthaven. Never before had she seen people twice her size with blue skin and green glowing eyes. People with scales and short sharp tails. Every corner was something new.
“Come get the freshest mests this side of Velstoria. All in time for Harvest day.”
Alicila smiled. “That must be what I am looking for.” She made her way down the street towards the voice. Soon a blue and red sign came into view. Gunthers Meat Market. Best slices of meat in Cresthaven.
She walked up to the open door and took in a deep breath of rosted dire boar. “Ahh. That smells lovely.” A tall blue skinned man knocked her to the side as he entered the shop. She grabbed onto the door frame and looked up. “Watch it.”
The man looked down and flashed his green eyes at her. “Want to do anything about it?”
She gulpled. “Umm. Sorry. My mistke.”
The man snorted. He then turned around and walked up to the counter. “Hello?” No one answered as Alicia walked up. “Hello!” He slammed his fist down on the table.
A thin man with scales walked out of the back room. “What?”
“Is this the kind of busisness you are running here?” He looked at the name tag on the apron. “Urson. I am a busy man. I shouldn’t have to wait on you.” He slammed down a pile of gold coins onto the counter. “Now I need the best slices of Pathar Steaks you have for my inn. The harvest season is upon us and I need the food for my guests.”
“Sure thing. I will be right back.”
Alicia leaned against the desk and looked up at the strange blue man. Eventually he caught her staring at him. “What?” He narrowed his eyes. “Have you never seen a Eldenen before?”
Alicia shook her head. “No I haven’t.”
He narrowed his green growing eyes. “Just where are you from. I know everyone in this town and I havent’ seen you before.”
“Me and my mother are just passing through. She sent me to get some food for her.”
“Then you should stay at my inn.” He turned his head and tapped his bright blue fingers on the desk. “All tralvers stay at my inn. We can get to know eachother.”
“I don’t think. . .”
“Look would you rather you sleep out in the cold winderness or in the most soft bed you have ever felt in your life. You would have to be crazy to pass up a night in my inn.” He stood back up. “Stupid out of towners. Think my inn isn’t good enough for them.”
Urson returned with a handful of wrapped meat. “Here you are.” He set the meat down on the counter. “Anything else I can do for you?”
“No.” He grabbed the bag. “But I will be back when I need to restock the shelves. My staff are all out in the fields right now so I have to do some of their damn jobs. The slackers.” He grunted, lifted the bag and walked out of the store.
Urson then looked at Alicia. “How may I help you miss?”
“I would like some smoked dire boar please.”
“Sure. That will be five silver pieces.”
Alicila dropped the coins on the counter. “There you are.” She narrowed her eyes at his scaly hide. “So what are you?”
Urson sighed. “Didn’t your parents teach you any manners?”
“I am sorry I didn’t mean any offense.”
He turned around and set a slab of meat onto the grill. “I am sure.” Urson covered the grill and smoke slowly rose out as he turned around. “So you are new in town? Never seen a Sarlaoc before?”
She shook her head. “Me and my mother keep to ourselves usualy. Or well I don’t get to go into the towns much.” Alicila pulled at her arm. “I have seen traders and such but I didn’t know there were anyone else like um. . .”
Urson crossed his arm. “Not like you?”
“Yes.”
“Your mother sounds like a piece of work.”
“Hey.”
“Hump. Hey. What else can I say about someone who is scared to deal with non humans?”
“My mother is not scared. Look can I just have my food?”
Urson turned around. “Well lucky. It is done.” He pulled off the lid and grabbed the meat with his bare hand. “Here you are.” He wrapped it up and handed it to her. “Have a nice day.”
Alicila rolled her eyes. “Ya. You too.” She walked to the doorway as she cradeld the meat in her arms. “Umm can you tell me which direction the inn is?”
“At the end of the street.”
“Thank you.” She pushed the door open and rushed out. Maybe she could convice Cryrena to spend the night in town instead of in the wilderness for once. There were so many new sights and sounds here that she did not want the experience to end. She wanted to explore, to see the sights, see more of the strange people here. Alicila didn’t know why her mother had kept all of this from her. But know that it was open to her she wasn’t just going to stand by walk away from it all.
She walked up the hill towards the camp where Cryena waited for her. A small pilar of smoke rose through the trees and signaled just where her mother had set up her camp. As she approached Cryrena appeared out of the brush with a worried look on her face.
“Alicila you are back. Are you alright? Nothing happened to you right?”
“I am fine. No nothing happened to me.” She set the grilled dire boar on a nearby rock. “Why are you so worried?”
Cryrena put her hand on her chest as she sat down. “I am just worried someone might have hurt you.”
“Why? I mean some of the strange people there are grumpy and all but I don’t think they would have hurt me.” She rolled her eyes. “Where did you get that notion?”
“Alicila. It is just that.” She shook her head.
“I know. I know. I will find out when I am older.” She stood up. “But that never comes. Come on. I am almost twenty remember? What is this big thing that I am supposed to know about? Why all the secrets? Why do we always have to hide?”
“Honey.”
“I went into town today to get that meat and you know what it was fine. Sure people wewre weird but if anything they thought I was the weird one for being some person who lives out in the woods. I want to know more about the people in Cresthaven. Why are there people with scales and tall blue people there. Why were there shops with a cross over the moon. Why where there small little people who looked like me but with exotic beards.” She threw up her arms. “There is so much I don’t know out there and I just want to learn.”
“You know we have to move on after sunrise.”
Alicila held the silver coins in her hand. “Well maybe but I am not sleeping here.”
“What?”
She turned around. “I heard of an inn when I was in town today. And I am going to stay there tonight. Explore Cresthaven. Get to know some of the town.” She put her hand to her mothers lips. “I know what you are going to say. It will just be for tonight ok. I will be back in the morring.” She smiled. “Ok. I love you.”
Cryrena sighed. “Ok. But you promise me you stay in your inn room and don’t leave.” She hugged Alicila. “Ok.”
“Ok. You are hurting me.”
