Sarah took a deep breath. “You can do this.” She looked up at the two-story house with gleaming blue paint. “Just stroll in, check it out and buy the place.
No more living at Carien’s.” She walked down the concrete path towards the front door. “Besides, if worse comes to worst, I have my old house to go to. My old house that is being watched day in and day out by those Fredricks Fancy creeps that want to take me away like some lab rat.” She gulped. “Umm, maybe that still isn’t the best choice.”
She stopped at the doorway and looked through the small glass window. “Hello?”
Sarah knocked on the door. “I am here to take a tour of the house.”
The door suddenly swung open, and a young man with long dark hair greeted her. “Hello there and welcome.” He slid his arm behind Sarah’s back. “Come on in.
Come on in.” Once she was inside, he shut the door. “Are you the Sarah Collinsworth I talked with on the phone?”
Sarah nodded her head and brushed her dark bangs to the side. “Yes. You said you could sell me this house.”
“Why yes, of course.” He clasped his dark hands together. “Well, would you like to start off with the tour, or can I get you something to eat?”
Sarah shook her hands. “I don’t want to impose.”
“Nonsense. It is a gift.” He smiled and showed off his pearly white teeth. “The housing association I work for tries to make it a party for those who check out our homes.”
Sarah cracked a smile. “Sounds like a fun job.”
“Well, I will say it makes my job easy. People love the tours so much that they usually buy the houses.” He laughed.
“Now, do you want something?”
“Sarah shrugged. “Sure. Why not?
I missed lunch anyways coming out here.”
He clapped his hands together.
“Perfect. Oh, I almost forgot. My name is Trevor.” He slapped his head with his hand playfully. “Where are my manners?”
“It is ok, Trevor.”
Trevor turned around and adjusted his suit.
“Well, if you will just follow me into the kitchen, we can get things started.” She followed him into the next room. The floor was made out of black and white tile, and a single ceiling fan hung above them. “There isn’t much here, but when you take over, you can, of course, make this space your own.”
He put his hand on the blue porcelain counter. “Over there is room for a fridge, oven, and such.”
“Looks great.” She noticed the tray of sweets next to Trevor. “Are those. . .”
“Why yes.” He pushed them closer to Sarah. “Specialty of the housing association. Blueberry cookies and sweets.”
She narrowed her eyes and picked up a cookie.
“I have never heard of a blueberry flavored cookie.”
Trevor shook his shoulders. “We know some people who are experimenting with a new brand.”
She sighed. “I don’t know. I am not someone who likes to try experimental candy. It doesn’t always sit well with me.”
Trevor laughed. “Hey now.” He threw his arm around her shoulder. “It is only a cookie. And it is free, a gift. Do you think I would offer you anything that was I don’t know. . .” He tapped his hand on his chain. “poison.”
“No.”
He slipped away from her. “Well then, now that is settled, please consider trying one, and we can move on to check out the bedrooms.” He clapped his hands together. “I am sure you will just love them.” He walked out of the room. “Keep up now.”
Sarah blinked her blue eyes and looked back towards the cookie. “Looks safe enough.” She scratched at the back of her dark hair. “And I don’t see any Fredricks Fancy markings on it, so I doubt anything bad will happen.” She took a bite out of the side of the cookie. “Mhhm. Suprisingingly good.” She walked into the next room as she munched on the sweet.
“Ahh, there you are.” Trevor smiled at her. “And I see you are enjoying my gift. Perfect.” Now, if you will come this way, we can head upstairs to the bedrooms.”
“What about this room?” Sarah looked around at the blue carpet and flatscreen television.
“Can you show me this room first?”
“I insist that we check out the upper levels of the house first. You will just love it.” He walked into the next room and headed up the stairwell. “Now come on. No dilly-dallying.”
Sarah sighed and followed suit. “I will say one thing, he is good at his job.” She put her hand on the rough wooden railing.
“I am glad he isn’t in other forms of retail. I am afraid of what he would get me to buy.”
Once on the second floor, Trevor took a right and opened the first door. “Here we have the guest bedroom.” He walked inside. “I am sure you will find it to your liking.”
She walked inside and gasped. “It is umm unique.” Everything in the room was blue, the carpet beneath her feet, the ceiling, the walls, and even the bed. Pictures of blueberries hung from the walls, and even a bowl by the bed held a tray of fresh blueberries.
“Yes. My manager’s idea. She just loves blueberries.” Trevor shrugged. “Says that theming the room this way we can sell the house easier.” He shrugged and threw a blueberry into his mouth. “Though I personally don’t get it.” He walked over to the bed and sat down. “Though there is something missing from this room.”
Sarah crossed her arms. “What is that?” She slowly walked into the room. “A blueberry throw pillow?”
Trevor laughed. “No, don’t be absurd.” He shook his head. “No, we need something special to complete this room, don’t you think.”
“But I will be doing that when I buy the house.”
“Right.” Trevor laughed. “Of course.”
He walked to the door and shut it.
“Hey, what are you doing?” Sarah put her hands on her hips. “Aren’t we going to see the rest of the house?”
He took a few steps towards her. “Umm, well, here is the thing.” He lifted one finger. “I don’t work with the housing association.” He raised a second finger. “I am getting this house ready for a special client, though.” Finally, he lifted the third finger. “And you are the last thing that will complete this room.”
Sarah’s eyes went wide. “What are you talking about?”
Trevor laughed. “Ok, ok. I was fired from my job last week. I admit it.
Turning people into blueberries just wasn’t a good look for the association. Well, I had to go into my own business, but who cares, right.”
Sarah twitched her head. “What!” She looked down at her hand. “Oh my god, it is already blue.” She reached out and grabbed Trevor by his suit. “Stop this now.”
He threw up his arms. “Hey, you did say you wanted this house. I didn’t say how you would get it.”
She took a deep breath. “Look here, buddy. You don’t want to screw around with me.” She pointed her blue finger at him. “I have put up with being shrunk, grown to insane heights, transformed, and even turned into a blueberry once before. I don’t care what you told that other person. I am getting this house.”
His eyes went wide. “I umm. . . Look, you will have to take it up with him when he gets here, but that will be in twenty minutes.”
She narrowed her eyes. “I am not waiting to fight it out with your other customer.
We are talking this out now.”
He shook his hands. “Look, it is the best I can do. Sorry, it is business.” He pulled away from her. “It is the same deal I made with him. He wouldn’t get to close the deal until he at least talked it out with you.” He laughed. “Even if I let my first client turn you into a blueberry first. It is part of my deal.” He handed Sarah his card. “The Berry Housing deal. I will do what I can to help you get your house even if I have to berrify the competition to do it.”
She rubbed her stomach as she felt juice build inside her body. “What a screwy practice.”
He shrugged his shoulders. “Hey, I have to make a living somehow.” He walked to the door. “I have to go and meet the other buyer.” Again, he shrugged his shoulders and lifted his hands in the air. “You know the deal and such. We will be back to check on you later.”
Sarah narrowed her eyes as her waist began to push out. “You are not leaving me in here.”
Trevor pushed the door closed. “Look, I don’t really want to but. . .” He moved the door until there was just a crack of space left. “But I need to make sure you won’t try and do anything rash. Again no hard feelings. Oh, and if you need anything like water or another snack, just holler.
I am not entirely heartless.”
She slid her shoe off her foot and threw it at the door.
“You are lucky I am not growing, you jerk.” She sighed and sat down on the edge of the bed, the juices inside her swollen ass swilling about. “Next time, I need to do more research.” She tapped her mushy knees. “I can’t believe there are people besides Fredricks Fancy who are doing crap like this.”
The springs of the bed groaned under her increasing weight. Sarah put her hands on her expanding hips and sighed. “Well, I need to think of something and fast.” She winced as her jeans began to rip and slip down her blue legs.
“Soon, I won’t be able to stand back up.
I am not paying for this bed.”
She pushed herself off the bed and wobbled back and forth. “Phew.”
She put her hand on her round waist as her blueberry-stained shirt rose up her chest. “Now, I just need to make it to the window. I am not sticking around for this transaction.” Sarah wiped beads of blue sweat from her forehead.
“I don’t want to meet Trevor’s other interested buyer. He is enough of a headache.”
Sarah held up her pants as she waddled over to the window. “I hope I can squeeze through the window in time.” She took a deep breath. “This movement is making the juice rush to my legs.” She winced as her pants ripped even more. “It is becoming so hard to walk.”
She began to slide her feet back and forth, the effort to lift her legs now too much. “Almost there.” Sarah put her hands down on her massive waist. “Just another foot.” She began to wave her arms. “No, no.
Lean back up. No!” She reached out and grabbed the windowsill ledge and tried to keep herself from falling flat onto the ground. “Noo.
I can’t go down now. I won’t get back up. Sarah winced as her pants burst apart off her body, her massive legs merging together. “Well, at least I am alone right now.”
Sarah put her right elbow onto the ledge of the window and pulled. “Come on.”
Srhhrrirp.” She looked down as her expanding chest caused her shirt to rip.
“Not good. Oufff.” She lost her grip and hit the floor, only to bounce up and down. The juices inside of her ping-ponged all about her body.
She tried to reach down for the carpet. “Ugh, come on.” After a few moments, Sarah gave up and rested her arms on her expanding blueberry body. She turned her head, unable to see the lower part of her body beyond the round curvature of her blue body. “In moments, I will be perfectly round.” She sighed and shook her head as her legs and arms slowly sunk into her juicy frame. “I need to think of something, so I can still be mobile.” She tapped her fingers on the side of her berry body, the only visible part of her arms left.
“When the other buyer arrives, I will need to find some way to move, so I am not just some immobile blueberry, and they can just take this house from me.”
Sarah lifted her head as she heard the sound of a car door slam from outside the window. Moments later, Trevor’s voice drifted up from below. “Hello. Are you the one who contacted me about buying a blueberry-themed house?”
“Yes, I am.” Sarah began to rock back and forth to get her head level with the window. “I assume that our little arrangement wasn’t a problem?”
“Oh, of course not. My partner and I have dealt with far worse. This one time. . .”
“Look, I just want to check out the place if that is ok.
I have to get back to my apartment and work on some accounts after this.”
Slowly but surely, Sarah rocked her head up to the window. “Just who is out there.” She raised her head to look over her swollen blue body and out at the snowy lawn below.
She could see Trevor as he hugged himself and looked towards the house's doorway.
“Well, sure. We can get right to it then. Wait for me.”
Trevor rushed into the house.”
“Dammit.” Sarah shook her head. “So close.”
She looked outside over the snowy landscape. “Strange.
It is freezing out today, and I don’t feel anything.” She rubbed the side of her body. “I guess the blueberry juice inside of me is good for something after all. It is sure keeping me warm.”
She turned her head as the doorknob began to turn.
“Hey, what is this room locked.
What is going on, Trevor?”
“Hold up your horses, will you.” Sarah gritted her teeth and jumped in place to turn around and face the doorway. “I just needed to make sure your surprise would be there, ok.” The door swung open, and Trevor was pushed to the side by a tall man with a red coat that matched his hair.
“WoW.” He took a few steps into the room and walked around. “It is perfect.” His eyes fell onto Sarah. “Even a lifesized blueberry.” He walked over and put his pale hand onto Sarah’s body, sending shockwaves throughout her body. “How much.”
Trevor took deep breaths and walked into the center of the room. “I umm.”
He took a deep breath. “Cal, I need a moment.”
He turned around. “Oh, I am sorry.”
Sarah shook her head. “Hey. I am here, you know.”
Cal turned around and put his hands on the sides of her body. “Yes, and isn’t it wonderful?”
Her cheeks turned violet with anger. “Stop it. I am not a part of this house. I am going to be the rightful owner.”
Cal laughed. “I didn’t ask Trevor to turn you into a blueberry if I wanted you to take this house from me. I already bought it.”
Trevor raised his hand. “Umm, about that.”
Cal ignored him. “So be mad all you want.” He grabbed her cheek. “It doesn’t change anything. You were a bit too little too late.”
“Cal!”
He turned around and raised his arms. “What!”
Trevor walked over and put a piece of paper on Sarah’s body. “You don’t own this house yet. Not until you sign the documents at least.”
He groaned. “It is nothing but a formality.” He pulled out a pen and looked down. “You fool. Why did you put them down on her.” He pulled up the papers. “They are all covered in blueberry juice now.”
Sarah laughed. “I guess no one is going to own anything now.” She turned her attention back to Trevor. “Hey, you. Now that his contract is ruined, let’s renegotiate ours.”
Cal pushed Sarah away. “Oh hell no. You are not giving this home to a blueberry. Write me up a new contract.”
Trevor took a few steps back. “Hey, you two work things out. Ok.” He smiled at them. “And when you do. I will be waiting on the front porch. Or you both have my cell.” His smile vanished, and he rushed to the door and closed it. Sarah then heard the door lock.
“That jerk did not just lock us in here.”
Sarah’s entire face turned violet. “Well, this would not of happened if you did not try and turn me into a blueberry in the first place. There are ways to compete for a house without turning people into berries.”
Cal turned around. “Whoh clam down.”
Sarah shook her head. “I won’t calm down.” The upper part of her body began to turn dark blue. “This is absurd. What is wrong with you?”
“Hey, look, we can talk about this later. But look at yourself. Your anger is umm going to your chest?”
Sarah looked down. “Huh?” The entire upper portion of her body was now a dark violet color. “What in the world is happening to me.” She closed her eyes. “My chest feels so tight.” She pressed on the sides of her body with her hands. “What is going on?”
“I don’t know.” He took a few steps back. “I, umm, have never dealt with something like this before.”
Sarah narrowed her eyes at him. “You have never turned someone into a blueberry before.”
The juices inside her boiled. “You have got to be kidding me.” The dark blue color quickly spread across the rest of her body.
“Hey, I think you should try and stay calm. It seems to be making things worse.”
Sarah took a deep breath. “Ok. Right.”
She took a deep breath in. “Look, just give me the house, and we can forget this whole thing.”
Cal shook his head. “Hey, I will tell you what.” He walked over and put his hand on her chest. “I will tell Trevor that we deiced to give me the house, and I can run down and run some water on your body. It looks like you could use some. Sounds good, my big blueberry buddy?”
The juices inside her began to push against her skin and force her to swell. “I am not your blueberry.” He took a few steps back. “I am not going to let you just turn me into a big blue berry and take this house from me.”
She groaned as her bra pressed against her swelling body. “This is my house, and you will have to fight me to get it. You hear me.”
“I umm.” He walked back until his back was against the wall. “I don’t know if I want to do that.”
“Why?” She looked down at him. “What is so wrong with that?”
He pointed at her. “I don’t want to try and fight a swelling blueberry.”
Sarah looked to her left at the mirror. She was growing by the moment. “This can’t be happening.” She tried to jump, but her massive body was stuck where it was. “Ugh, I need help. I am so full. All of this juice.” She closed her eyes as her undergarments snapped apart. “Ohhh.”
Cal turned around and slammed on the door as Sarah’s body pressed against the ceiling. “Hey, Trevor. Hello.
We umm decided who would get the house.
Ya. Now open this door.”
Sarah shook her head as her body began to push the bed towards the wall. “Like hell we did.”
Cal turned around. “This is insane. Let me out.
She is going to crush me.”
Trevor’s voice drifted up from below. “How can Sarah do anything to you? She is a small immobile blueberry.”
Cal turned his attention back towards Sarah.
“Look, you want this house?
OK. I will give it to you. Just stop swelling.”
Sarah’s expanding body slammed the dresser against the wall, and she could feel the floor groan under her ever-increasing weight.
“That isn’t good enough.”
He pushed against her blue body. “Come out. I am giving you the damn house. What more do you want?” He looked back against the doorway as he was slowly backed against it. “What more do you want?”
“No more turning people into blueberries.” She could feel Cal’s body slowly press against her massive chest. “You got it.”
“Ok, ok.” He squirmed between the ever-shrinking space between her and the wall. “I promise. Now calm down and stop swelling.”
Sarah shook her head as the room closed in around her and her bra ripped apart. “I can’t.”
She closed her eyes as the juice pressed against her skin. “Ughhh.
It is too much.” Crreeeeck.
The door suddenly popped off of its hinges, ejecting Cal out of the room like a rocket. “Help!”
“What is going on up here?” Sarah felt someone touch her side. “What happened? How did she get so massive?”
Sarah heard Cal’s voice. “Please don’t ask. Just get me out of here.”
“What about the lease?”
“Give it to the giant blueberry in the other room if she ever can find a way to sign the documents. I am out of here.”
Sarah shook her head. “Hey. You can’t just run away.”
“He is gone.” Trevor tapped the side of Sarah’s frame. “And I think I am going to head out to. If you find a way out of this mess, you can call me, and we can talk about the lease for the house.” He slapped the side of Sarah’s blue body. “Plus the damages you have inflicted upon the house.”
“Hey.” She groaned as the room continued to squeeze her. “Don’t’ just run out. I need something to be done. Anything.
Ughhhhh. Get this juice out of me.” She blinked her eyes. “Come back and juice me.” Sarah heard the sound of car doors and, moments later, engines.
She closed her eyes. “Well, I hope Carien is having a better time on her vacation than I am right now.” She took a deep breath as she felt the juices inside of her finally settle. “I have a house, but at what cost.”
