Alicila crossed her arms. “Just what do you want me to help you with?”
Nora smiled. “Well, you see, honey, you know that Lulvix creep that you saw on your way into town? We are going to deal with a nearby Garrison of theirs.” She crossed her arms and turned around. “They have harassed our town for the last time, and we are going to show them what happens when they do not leave us in peace.” Nora chuckled. “They will finally get the weapon they have so desperately wanted from us.”
Alicila raised an eyebrow. “Ok, but I don’t see how I fit into this. Couldn’t you just do this without me and then come back and help me when you’re finished?”
Nora turned around and looked up. “While yes, we could do this on our own.” Nora rolled her eyes. “You darling could help us out so much more.” She walked over and gently touched the side of Alicila’s leg. “You see, they would not be expecting a Sizeran. It would be a perfect surprise.” Nora laughed.
Alicila sighed. “I don’t exactly want to be a surprise, though.” She crossed her arms and knelt down. “I don’t even know what I could do to help.”
“At your height, darling, anything, and everything.” Nora smiled. “Just pick up the varmints like the toys they are and toss them while we spray them with our blueberry blend. It will be perfect.” She clasped her hands together. “So, what do you say?” Nora held her hand up. “Oh, and before you answer. Remember, we will help you after you help us clear out this garrison.”
Alicila sighed. “Well, I guess I don’t have a choice, do I?” She extended her hand out. “So, I think we have a deal.”
Nora used both hands and shook Alicila’s. “Great! Get your stuff and meet us at the north end of town in twenty minutes.” She turned around. “We will send these Lulvix fools running back to the border.” She laughed as she walked down the street.
Alicila rolled her eyes as she stood back up. I don’t care about that. I just want this over with so you people can help me get back to my standard size. She looked down at the ground below her. Being able to sleep inside a regular bed again would be lovely. She smiled.
“Hey, Alicila.” She turned around and looked down to see Ventor running up. “Do you have a minute?”
“Umm, yes. I have to go and help Nora soon, so make it quick.” She pulled at her arm. “Luckily, I don’t really have anything left to my name, so I can just run over and meet with them.”
“What are you talking about?”
She shook her head. “Oh, nothing.” She narrowed her eyes. “What is it that you want?”
“When you have a minute, can you please help me with another situation of mine?”
Alicila threw her hands up. “Why does everyone want my help? Is it because of my size?” She rolled her eyes. “Just because I am big doesn’t mean I am the go-to lady around here for help, you know.”
“What? No.” He shook his hands in front of his face. “I just want your help because of what you did for me before.” He looked down at the ground. “Granted, the first time, I did want you for your size, but I am not after that this time, I swear.”
She sighed. “Ok, then what is it that you want?”
“I will explain when you get back. We have to wait until nightfall anyway.” He shuddered. “I can’t even begin to talk about it now without breaking out in hives.” He turned around. “See you when you get back. Good luck, and be careful with that blueberry powder. Don’t need you turning into a giant blueberry on your mission.”
“What?” She raised an eyebrow as he rushed off. “Nora didn’t say anything about that.” She turned around. “What am I getting myself into?”
Alicila eventually ran her hands through her hair and began to walk towards the north of town. “Time to get this over with, I guess.” A few moments later, she found herself standing in front of a strange assembly of people. A half a dozen men and women in dark violet leather jackets with two wooden buckets full of blue powder between them. At the front of the group stood Nora with a scaly person.
“Ahh, Alicila.” Nora waved as she approached. “It is good to see you here. I want you to meet Wrentelra. She is one of the Draonon.”
“Draonon?”
Wrentelra smiled. “Yes. My people have dragon ancestry alongside human. Like many others, we were deemed not worthy of living in the Lulvix Alliances world. I found my way to Terrondale after being chased by a Lulvix patrol some months back.” She threw her arm around Nora. “I helped Nora get out of their deal with Lulvix at the time.” She laughed. “It was quite a funny trick to have pulled at the time.”
Nora smiled. “Yes. Maybe we can talk about it some other time. But for now, we need to focus.” She looked up at Alicila. “So, are you ready to help?” Alicila nodded. “Good. So the garrison is not too far from here. It supplies troops to this region, mainly to the town of Cresthaven.” Nora sighed. “The blasted place used to supply soldiers here until we told the Alliance that we would no longer serve them.”
Nora turned around. “We need to get in there and plant these berry bombs. We can set one of them. Alicila, I want you to put the other on the top level of the garrison.
It should be easy for you and your height advantage.”
She shrugged. “Ok. But what are you going to do with the bombs?”
Nora laughed. “Blow them up on the garrison, of course.”
Wrentelra crossed her arms. “If we can take out the soldiers in that garrison, we can focus on freeing the town of Cresthaven.”
“I thought the people of Cresthaven were with the Lulvix Alliance,” Alicila said. “Or at least I gathered that from how they reacted to me growing in size when I was last there.”
Nora shook her head. “No. Not everyone is. The soldiers just make sure that no one dares speak up. This isn’t like their home country.” Nora turned around. “Lulvix came here two years ago and told us that we would be killed if we didn’t cooperate. Unfortunately, Cresthaven is being forced to do what their alliance wants like we were until we found the means to fight back.” She looked at the crates. “I don’t like resorting to using these methods, but it is what keeps Terrondale safe. If I have to turn people into blueberries, so my people don’t have to give tribute to that mad man and live in fear, then I will. I will also do it so Draonon and Sizeran’s can live out their lives here.” She sighed.
Alicila smiled. “Well, I may not feel that great about turning anyone into a blueberry, but if it is to help people from this alliance, then I will do it.” She knelt down and gently patted Nora on the shoulder. “So, are we ready to leave?”
Nora smiled. “Yes.” She looked up at the sky. “We should be heading out about now so we can reach the garrison by nightfall. We need to use the cover of night to sneak these barrels into their hidy hole.” She smiled. “I can’t wait to see the look on their faces when these things go off.
Their skin turning blue. These jerks will be getting what they deserve soon enough.”
Alicila sighed and turned around. “Ok, then.” She picked up the nearby barrel. “Let’s just get this over with, shall we?”
