Alicila and the others arrived at the outskirts of the Lulvix garrison later that night. Nora held up her hand as the lights of the torches came into view.
“Ok, everyone, hush up.” She looked up at Alicila. “Darling, flatten yourself down on the ground and set those barrels down carefully. We don’t need any accidents now.”
Alicila knelt down on the ground and set the barrels filled with blueberry powder on the wet grass. “Ok.” She whispered. “What next?”
“Just wait here, for now, darling. Ok.” Nora turned around. “Ok. I want to know what we are up against. Vet?”
A young man rushed up. “Yes?”
“Can you scout things out for us?”
He pulled up his black mask over his face. “I will be back in a few minutes. Don’t worry.” He turned around and vanished into the trees.
Nora smiled and turned back around. “Once we have a better idea what we are up against, we can figure out our next move.” She looked up at Alicila. “Darling, how are you holding up?”
Alicila shivered. “It is freezing out here, but otherwise, I am fine.”
Nora tapped Alicila on her knee. “Good. It is kind of cold out here tonight.” She took in a deep breath and exhaled. “Ahhh, yes.
Enjoy this lovely weather while you can before the sweltering heat of summer comes.” She shook her head. “Anyways, let’s get into what you will be doing, shall we?”
Alicila nodded her head. “Of course.”
Nora smiled and crossed her legs. “Ok. So unless Vet comes back with some bad intent, the plan is simple. We will head in and distract the guards while you use the barrels on them. Now the effects are not instant, so once they are drenched in the berry powder, we need to separate ourselves from them as quickly as possible.”
Alicila shrugged her shoulders. “Why?”
“Do you want to join them in their berrifed state?”
Alicila shook her head. “Of course not.”
“Then don’t’ let them touch you. The powder will take three minutes to soak into their skin. Even then, just a touch will be enough to cause you to swell up just like them.”
Nora tapped the side of the blue barrel.
“This stuff is very, very volatile.
I do wish we had a more controlled way of using it, but well, we don’t.” She clapped her hands together. “But that is about it. So are you ready for when Vet gets back?”
“Umm, I guess so?”
Everyone fell to the ground as the silence was broken by the sound of rustling trees, and Vet emerged from the darkness. “Ok, the perimeter looks clear.” He slid down next to Nora. “Just about one or two guards walking around outside.”
Nora smiled. “Perfect then. Ok, then everyone knows what to do.” She looked at Alicila. “Move to the break in the trees and wait for us to get them all out in one place.
Just make sure you get them all at once.
We don’t need any of them to run off on us.” Nora stood up. “Ok, everyone.
Let’s go and make some noise shall me.”
She and the others rushed off into the darkness, leaving Alicila alone.
She looked down at the barrels of blueberry powder and gulped. “Well, I guess this is it.” She bent over and picked the barrel up. “My stomach is queasy just holding this. I saw what this did to that cow. If I screw up the throw. . .” Alilcila shook her head. “No, I can’t do that to them. I won’t.
I just won’t.”
She lost her grip, and the barrel fell onto the ground, blueberry powder flying into the air. Alicila jumped backward to avoid the floating blue specs. “Oh, crap.” She took a deep breath as they landed harmlessly on the ground. “That was close.” Then, as she picked the barrel back up, she watched as the grass that the powder had landed on slowly became blue and round. “Shesh, this stuff is potent. Eugh.”
She made her way through the trees towards the dim light in the distance. Sounds of screams filled the air as she approached. “I am starting to wonder if this was such a good idea.” She pushed some brush to the side, and she could see a massive tower standing before her. “Wow.” The tower was covered in torches and thick spikes. “This is not a place I would want to be caught in.”
Suddenly Nora ran out of the tower’s entrance.
“Alicila. Where ever you are, get ready.” A few more people followed her as they fired bolts behind them. “They are right behind us.”
Alicila walked out of the tree line with the barrel in her hand. She waited until she saw armored figures emerging from the tower, and then she threw the blue mist over the small glade.
“Alicila!” Nora cried out as she blanketed everyone in the powder. “I said wait until we get to a safe distance.”
She blinked her eyes as she noticed her mistake.
“Oh crap. What do I do?”
More and more soldiers ran out, their bodies becoming covered in the blue powder. “It is too late. Just back away.”
Vet shook his arms. “I didn’t sign up for this.”
A Lulvix solider drew an axe. “This was your big plan? Have a Sizeran drench us with some blue powder? You should have had her try and crush us or something. That freak would have been more effective.
Ugh?” He dropped the weapon. “What is going on? My chest feels tight.”
Another soldier shook his head. “Ya. Mine too.
My skin is turning blue as well.”
“What did you witches do to us.”
Nora laughed as she turned blue. “Well, at least I will be able to watch you all turn into blueberries firsthand.” She turned her head towards Alicia. “Sorry, darling. It looks like the next part of the job you will have to do on your own.”
“Huh?”
“Well, we were going to hall everyone off and make sweet, oh sweet juice out of them as justice for their crimes against our town.”
She pressed down on her stomach.
“Oh sheesh, this stuff is potent.
I can feel the juice already swelling up inside of me. Anyways you will have to roll all of us back to Terrondale.”
Alicila shook her head. “Oh no. You said if I touched any of you, I would turn into a giant blueberry myself. I saw what that stuff did just to some blades of grass. You all are on your own.”
One of the Lulvix soldiers cried out as her belt burst off her expanding waist. “Hey, you can’t just leave us here. Come back.
Please.”
Alicla sighed. “This can’t be happening.” She paced back and forth as the dim moonlight poured through from above. “This is even crazier than when I woke up at this nutty size.” She looked at the others as they continued to swell more and more. “Holy crap, why do they have to turn into blueberries so quickly?”
Nora pushed on the sides of her body as her feet lifted off the ground. “You should be able to start rolling us here in a few minutes. Now calm down.” She giggled.
“That explosion of juice just blow my neck tickled.”
“Nora, you are turning into a blueberry, and all you can do is laugh?”
She smiled as she started to look more and more like a giant blueberry. “When things go wrong, you just have to give light to the situation with a huge blue smile. Makes the world go blue and round. Also, I think I might have a blueberry high right now.
Kind of hard not to laugh.” She giggled again. “So much juice.”
Everyone else began to giggle, and Alicila shook her head. “This is all nuts. The juice is literally going to your heads.” She sighed. “I can’t believe I have to roll a bunch of giant blueberries back to Terrondale in the dark.” She narrowed her eyes at Nora. “Giggling blueberries no less.”
Nora laughed. “Ok, darling.” She giggled.
“You should be ahhhhh good to start getting us back to town. Oh, goodness, do I feel good.”
Alicila rolled her eyes. “This is not my idea of a good time.”
“Then you should haven’t turned us all into blueberries. Well, you should have.” Nora flapped her tiny arms about as Alicla put her hands on her body. “It is such a grand thing that you did. Hehe. But you know you could have had some help, is what I am saying.”
“Hhhh. Let’s just get this going. I don’t want this to take all night.”
“Ok. Right.
I will shut my lip.” Nora giggled.
Alicila rolled Nora back towards town, using her gigantic blueberry mass to forge a path through the trees. “Oww.” She groaned as her body pressed against the foliage. “Alicila, darling. Can you not be so forceful? I think I... Ugh yuck.
I don’t want to know what I just ate.”
“Do you want me to get you there tonight?”
“I want you to get me back to Terrondale in one piece.”
Nora giggled. “And with all of the juice inside of me.” She looked around as her head neared the top of the rotation. “Plus, I think you are making more juice fill my body. I don’t need to swell even more because you are being so rough. I am enough of a giant blueberry, thank you enough.”
“Hey, stop.”
Alicila grabbed Nora and forced her to a stop as Ventor jumped out in front of them. She then narrowed her eyes at him. “What are you doing? I could have rolled Nora over you and crushed you flat.”
“Wait, what? Nora?”
Nora waved at him. “Hi, Ventor.” She giggled.
“Long time no see.”
He waved at her. “Umm, hi.” He shook his head. “Look, I was coming to find you. I need your help Alicila.”
“I can’t. As you can see, I am busy.”
He put his hands on Nora. “Well, make time unless you want something to happen to poor Nora here.”
