Growth Malfunction part 4

Growth Malfunction Part 4

Linda smiled. “Glensdale. Finally.” She pushed the clouds to the side. “And not a moment too soon. If I grew any larger, I fear I might be unable to ingest the medicine I need to control my size.” She shivered as she walked towards the tiny port town, her footfalls causing small tremors. It had been quite a long couple of days for her. Her hometown pharmacy hadn’t been able to stock the medicine she needed to keep herself from growing, so she had to rush all the way over to Glensdale. But time and time again, her expanding body proved to be an issue. As a result, she destroyed her car, wrecked buildings, and possibly stomped a few people.

But it was finally going to be over. Despite being almost two hundred and thirty feet tall, she was ready to shrink back down to under six feet, even if she had to eat the entire pharmacy building to do it. Linda smiled at the thought of being able to hug her dog again. “I can’t wait for this to be over. I have never been this tall before, and I don’t really want to be again. I have given up on trying to step on stuff.” She lifted her foot and dusted off the cars and trees.

Linda knelt down in front of Glensdale. “Ok, where is the pharmacy? I am not used to seeing the town like this from so high up.” She narrowed her eyes as a flock of seagulls flew towards her eyes. “Hey, what are you doing?” She waved her hands about. “Get away.

My nose is not a place for you to land. Shoo! Shoo!”

The birds squawked before flying up towards her eyes. “Hey, what are you doing.” She winced as they started to peck away. “Stop that.” She slapped at them like flies. “Ugh, crap.” She looked at her hands. “I tried to warn them to leave me alone.” She winced as she grew another few feet. “I can’t just stand around here dealing with rouge birds. I need to find that pharmacy and fast. They have my medicine.”

Linda looked down at the down once more and noticed something peculiar. “Those are strange-looking vehicles. Why do they have those tubes coming out of them?” She winced as there was a sudden loud noise. “Oww.” She rubbed her shins. “Those things shot at me.” She took a deep breath. “What the hell? Why are there tanks here waiting to try and hurt me? I haven’t done anything wrong.” She scratched at her chin. “Sure, I might have stepped on a few tiny buildings, but it wasn’t anything majority wrong.”

Linda clenched her hands into fists as she was fired on again. “Ok, that is annoying. You all are like stinging little bees.” She took a deep breath. “But you shouldn’t make things any worse. Just take your medicine and shrink back down. No need to actually hurt anyone else.” She took a deep breath as another shell hit her knee and caused an involuntary flinch, her leg sending multiple buildings out over the ocean.

She slowly laughed. “My bad. . .” She narrowed her eyes as all of the small toy tanks opened fire. “Ok, if you are not going to listen to me and hear out that it was a mistake.” She reached down and carefully picked up one of the tanks. “Then I can use you for practice at skipping stones.” She watched as the people inside clambered out of the vehicle. “Should of thought of that before you tried to well shoot me.”

She tossed the piece of crap out across the lake and out of sight. “I will say I am going to miss the throwing arm I have now.” She looked down at the other vehicles of war. “I suggest you get out of here before I see how far I can send you flying.” They all started to slowly back away, causing her to smile. “Good. See, I am a nice person when you don’t try and send your annoying shells into my leg.” She sighed. “Now, where is this damn pharmacy.” She rolled her eyes as she grew yet again. “I need to find it before it’s too late.”

A smile formed on her face as she spotted her salvation, hiding between two skyscrapers by the bay. “Finally. This growth nonsense can come to an end.” She gulped. “But how am I supposed to get at it.” She looked at all of the buildings in between her and the pharmacy. “I am sure to crush something trying to get to the building.” She scratched at her head. “Let alone, how am I going to contact the people inside so they can bring me the medicine I need.” Linda sighed.

“I know I could ingest the building if I need to, but I would want to get everyone out first without smashing the pharmacy. Ugh, what am I going to do?”

She slammed her foot onto the ground, causing tremors which caused all the windows in the city to shatter. “Opps.” She sighed as she grew an explosive twenty feet. “I need to think fast.” She looked at her hands. “My growth is accelerating.” Linda looked at the ground. “Ugh, I think I knocked over another building.” She took a few steps back from Gensdale. “Ok, how am I going to get to the pharmacy and get my shrinking pills without destroying anything or hurting anyone else.” She ran her hands through her hair. “Ughh, why do I have to be so god damn big? If I was just a maybe a hundred feet smaller, this would be so much simpler.”

Linda winced as she grew again. “Ugh, screw it. I don’t have time to figure this out. I need to go now before I get too big.” She looked down at the small pharmacy on the other side of town. “Ok, Gensdale. I am truly sorry for this, but I need to shrink down. For everyone’s sake.”

She carefully made her way across the town, only stepping on as few as two buildings before jumping into the water. But even then, her enormous body caused a massive tidal wave to wash over the town. “Ughh.” She rubbed her hand over her face as she watched the gigantic wave hit Glensdale. “I should have just flattened a few more buildings. I feel like a force of nature at this point.” Linda sighed as she knelt down in the water and looked for the pharmacy. “Ugh, what happened to it? Where is the blasted pharmacy and my shrinking relief.” She slammed her hand down on the beach, sending sand flying into the air. “I can’t of just washed it away.”

A tear ran down her eye as she grew again. “I can’t find it.” Linda took a deep breath. “I think I might have destroyed it. My one chance to stop this infernal growing, and I destroyed it.” Her tear fell from her face and down towards the ground, where it struck a skyscraper below, causing the building to wobble back and forth. “What am I going to do now?” She looked at her hands. “I can’t keep growing forever.” She ran her hands through her hair. “Right.”

Linda squinted her eyes as she noticed something strange approaching in the distance. “Those look like jets.” She took a few steps back, her actions causing more giant waves. “Look, I am sorry. I didn’t mean it.” She winced as the tiny vehicles shot at her. “Hey, stop it. Oww.”

Tiny explosions racked her body. “I mean it stop it.”

Linda slammed her foot down, sending water flying into the air. The sudden torrent of water knocked a few of the jets out of the sky and washed the rest of Gelnsdale away. “Oh crap.

I. . .” She held her hands over her mouth as she swelled even more. “I didn’t mean it. I. . .” She winced as a pair of rockets hit her in the groin.

“Ok, that is it.” She grabbed the jets in her hand. “I can’t control my size anymore, and you people are making it worse.” She held them up to her face. “Making me angry is not a good idea. Do you understand that?” Her eyes widened as she realized just her voice had been enough to shatter the cockpits of the aircraft. “Oh, crap.” She threw the jets to the side. “I am just too big. What am I going to do now?”

Linda looked up, no longer able to see a blue tint in the sky but the stars above. “It looks so beautiful.” She smiled. “Maybe I can have some comfort in becoming my new giantess self.” Linda hugged herself. “I will miss my poor dog, though. I could really hug Buster right now.” She sighed as she grew again. “Even if he didn’t always listen to me, that little guy was the love of my life.” Tears filled her eyes. “Now I am going to be so gigantic that I am not going to have anyone but my own giant self to be with anymore.”

Vector walked out to the balcony of his apartment building. “What is wrong, Catherine?”

She pointed upward. “That.”

He scratched at his beard and looked skyward. “What is this? Why is there a giant naked lady covering the horizon? Is this why it’s still dark?”

“Yes. And she has steadily been growing over the last hour.” Catherine held out her phone. “Check this out.”

Vector took the phone in his hand. “You know I don’t like the blasted news. It makes me feel ill at ease.”

She narrowed her eyes. “Just watch it. You might like it for once in your damn life.” She crossed her arms and walked inside.

Vector rubbed at the baseball cap on his head. “Ya, that is doubtful. But I guess I can check it out.”

We are reporting here from Glensdale, and we have the most unbelievable tale. A woman hundreds of feet tall is attacking. At first, she was just playing with the tanks we had here to stop her. But just recently, things escalated.” The man put his hands over his head as what looked like a massive water bomb struck the building across the street.  “Holy crap, what was that?”  The reporter took a moment.  “That thing was a tear? Holy crap. Look to everyone watching; look out. This woman is growing out of control, and we don’t know how long until she might level your town” The broadcast ended there.

Vector looked up as the gigantic shadow above him increased. “I would think this is a hoax unless I didn’t see that gigantic ass blocking out the sun for myself.”

Alarms ran out through the city, and Catherine walked back out onto the balcony. “Vector, what is going on?”

He pointed above them. “The giantess. She’s moving.” He gulped.

“Coming closer.”

Catherine pulled at him. “Well, can’t we do something?” She hugged him as the giant ass came closer and closer. “Can’t they shoot her or something?”

He shook his head. “I don’t think so.” Vector sighed as he looked upward. “Well, I guess this is one hell of a way to go out.”

Catherine punched him on the shoulder. “What kind of language is that?”

He chuckled. “I umm. . .”

He pulled at his arm. “Well, I had to let it be known sometime, right.” He looked up. “I love you.”

Linda scratched at her chin as she sat down. “There isn’t much time before I will beyond the atmosphere.” She looked down at the ground. “I wonder how many people I just crushed with my rear end.” She sighed. “Well, it can’t really be helped, can it.” She looked up at the endless expanse of space above her. “I wonder what I will do here in a few minutes. Will I just float off, or will it be my job to protect the earth?” She looked down at the shattered ground beneath her. “Well beyond what I have done already.” Linda shrugged her shoulders. “But I can’t exactly stop myself from destroying stuff at this point.” She lifted her right leg and gently set it down, causing the ground to shudder. “I am so big that the earth trembles from my very touch. It will be a good thing when I am carried out into space.”

Linda sniffed as she grew again. “I just have to try and keep myself from crying.

Every time I do, I cause a flood.” She took a deep breath. “It will be ok.” She felt a strong pull on her body from above. “Ok, I think this is it. I will no longer be able to cause any havoc. I can be my giant, glorious self without causing any devastation.” She smiled as she stood up, feeling light on her feet. “Yes, carry me into the heavens where I belong. I am a goddess, after all. Let me watch over this world from above.”

Slowly she lifted off the ground and into the atmosphere. A smile formed on her face. “If this is my fate, I don’t feel like I mind.” She ran her hands just over the surface of the earth. “I almost feel like a mother to the people below. A watcher, their protector.” She slowly rose higher into the sky. “I may have had some issues growing to where I am now, but I will make sure nothing happens to my world, to the people below.”

Linda gently held the sides of the earth in her hands. “I understand now. This is what was awaiting me from the start when my condition first surfaced.” She smiled as she grew again, and the planet became smaller. “I can feel my growth slowing down for the first time in ages. But I am truly a goddess.” She pulled the earth closer to her and hugged the planet and the people below her. “I am happy for what has happened. Everyone, I will be here for you always.”

Vector sighed as he looked at the television screen.

“I can’t believe this is what the world has come to.”

Catherine sat down next to him. “I am just happy she is no longer on the planet with us to sit on us again.”

Vector sighed. “We were lucky our town was wedged perfectly between her butt cheeks, so nothing was destroyed.” He looked out the window and the gigantic valleys. “We are fortunate.”

“Hump. Maybe but didn’t you. . .”

“Hehhh. Let’s just forget that and watch the broadcast.”

“Today is a momentous day. After the strange giantess appeared in the sky and started circling the earth, we will now send an expedition out there to find out what she is.

Is she really a woman, or is she a robot sent to test us? The launch is set later today.”

Vector laughed. “They are really going to try and land on her. Lucky.”

“I heard that.”

He slapped himself on the face. “Ugh, you are never going to let me live that down, are you, honey.” He stood up. “How many times will I have to apologize.”

“Maybe when I grow, and I get to crush you. Then we will be even.”

“Ughhh!” He rushed into the next room after his wife. “Come on.”

The television report continued with the two out of the room.  “Hopefully, this will be a great learning day for us all, and it won’t bring down the wrath of a woman big enough to crush the earth in her hands. Reporting from new Gleansdale, I am Kerry Orien. Have a good day.”
