Graduation Berry

This is a request story for Iamtheladyoflight

Graduation Berry.

Alice smiled as she sat down in the lawn chair. “I can’t believe this day is here.”

She looked at the young man sitting next to her. “These young ones graduating and moving on with their lives.”

“Hmh.”

Alice raised an eyebrow. “What? Are you not excited for one of your. . .” She took a deep breath. “Your family members to graduate from this prestigious college?”

He turned his head and narrowed his green eyes. “Hey, lady, do I look like I am old enough to have kids?”

“I umm. . .”

He crossed his arms and looked up at the podium. “I am here to support my brother.

He is moving from this dump to a respectable job in a few weeks.”

Alice shuddered and ran her hands through her dark hair. “Ok then. Enjoy the ceremony.” She turned to watch as Adam wormed his way between the people already seated and plopped himself down next to her. “The ceremony is about to start. What took you so long?”

“I have a term paper due in two days. So, I had to get as much studying in before coming here.” He stashed some papers into a bag. “Not all of us are graduating today.”

“At least you made it.” She turned her head to look up at the stage. “Melissa needs our support.”

He set his bag down on the wet grass. “I said I would be here ok.” He sighed and pulled a candy bar out of his bag. “Want one?”

Alice shook her head. “No.”

He pushed the candy bar in her face. “Come on. It’s good. It helps keep your energy up when you study. You will love it. I mean, you need something to get through this ceremony.” Adam pulled another bar out of his bag. “This takes what? An hour and a half? We need something to eat.”

Alice looked at the bar. “I did miss breakfast.”

Adam smiled. “See. It will be good for you.”

Alice held the bar in front of her face. “Why doesn’t it have any wrapping, though?”

He shrugged as he took a bite out of his bar. “Well, I have a nervous habit of tearing at the candy wrapping while I study. It’s better than tearing at my skin.” He laughed. “The stress of school gets at me.”

She patted him on his shoulder. “Well, hopefully, you can relax when you finish your exam period.” She looked at the bar. “But tell me, what is the bar made out of?”

Adam took another bite. “They are all different. Why?”

“I need to—

She turned her head as an elderly man with a bald head, and a short white beard walked onto the stage. He made his way to the podium before deafening the crowd by talking into the microphone. “Hello and welcome.” His dull blue eyes went wide. “Opps.” He adjusted the microphone. “Is this better?” He laughed. “That is my bad. I want to thank you all for coming out here today. Taking time out of your busy lives for our graduation event.” He took a deep breath. “Today, the hard workers, the men and women of Leicestershire, are about to step out into the real world.” He turned around. “They are about to start the journey of. . .” He paused. “Ugh, I knew I should have written down my speech.”

A young woman walked out onto the stage and grabbed the microphone. “Thank you so much, Mr. Everson.”

“But I am not done.”

Alice shrugged her shoulders and bit into the candy bar. “Mhhm.

Tastes good.”

Adam smiled. “See, I told you that you would like it, mom.”

She nodded her head. “Yes, but. . .” She tapped her chin. “I swear I can taste a hint of something.” She shook her head as she took another bite.  I hope there isn’t artificial blueberry in this thing.

The young lady at the podium waved as Mr. Everson walked off the stage. “Well, shall we get this graduation started?” The crowd cheered. “That is the energy we want to see. First up, we have Renold Venerson with a master’s degree in mathematics.” A handsome-looking man walked out on the stage. “Well, he has the looks and the brains. I think he will be well off, don’t you people?”

Adam laughed. “Well, at least this is interesting.”

Alice coughed and put her hand on her chest. “Ugh ya.” She blinked her eyes. “Ugh.” She felt a warmth spreading throughout her body.  Please tell me that is just heartburn.

Adam looked over at his mother. “Hey, are you alright?”

She smiled and nodded her head. “Yes. I am ok.”

I hope.

Alice watched as the next young lady walked out onto the stage and accepted their graduation paper. She rubbed her legs, feeling the warmth spreading throughout her body.

As long as it is just warmth, I am good.  She took a deep breath.  No need to panic. My allergies are not acting up yet. Of course not.  Her eyes widened as she noticed her fingers turning blue.  Oh crap.

Adam turned his head. “Hey, what is wrong?”

Alice slid her hands under her butt. “Nothing. I am just shocked that we have yet to see Melissa.”

“Why? Only two people have gone on the stage so far.” He crossed his arms and looked at the stage. “In fact, I am not looking forward to seeing her go up there with how everyone is being roasted. If this is how I am going to be treated when I graduate, I am not looking forward to it myself.”

Alice nodded her head. “Ya. I guess it is a good thing she hasn’t come out yet.” She could feel the blueberry juice start to travel up her arms.  I don’t exactly want her to see my blueberry condition. I might ruin her graduation.  Alice looked at Adam.  It is only a matter of time before he notices. I mean, my arms are blue, and I can feel my chest filling up. Why did he have to give me a blueberry-flavored candy bar? This is the last time I eat something I don’t know the contents of.

Adam laughed. “Well, that engineer’s joke was funny.” He looked over at Alice. “Right, mom?” His eyes widened upon seeing her blue face. “Holy crap.

What happened to your face?”

Alice laughed and forced a smile. “Ummm. I have something I need to tell you.”

“What? Is it that your skin is blue?”

The man on the other side of Alice turned his head. “What did you do? Give yourself a spray job so you would stand out?”

She turned her head. “Excuse me?”

“I mean, why else would you make yourself blue? It is just very odd.”

She put her hands in her pockets and looked down at the ground. “I don’t exactly want to talk about it.” She could feel her body begin to fill up with more juice. “It is a bit embarrassing.”

Adam put his hand on her shoulder. “Well, feel free to talk about it. We can help. Well, after the graduation.” He lifted his hand away. “Also, why is your skin wet? Is this juice?”

She pulled her shirt over her belly as it slowly started to push out, and her skin turned from a blue color to a dark purple. “I umm. . .” She looked up at the stage. “Oh hey, look. There is Melissa.” She waved. “Hey, honey.”

Melissa looked out, and her eyes widened. “Mom!? What in the world?” She stopped short on the stage.

Alice shrunk down in her seat as everyone looked at her.  What did I just do?  She gulped as her blueberry-stained t-shirt began to ride up her expanding belly. Quick I need to do something to not make this so awkward.  She waved her blue hand at her daughter. “Happy graduation Melissa. Good work.”

Melissa ran her hands through her hair. “This isn’t happening.” She turned towards the podium. “This isn’t happening.”

The young woman who had been announcing the event slowly laughed. “Well, it looks like we have a bit of a situation, people.” She gestured towards Melissa. “Please continue this way so you can accept your reward.”

A voice rose up from the crowd. “I think the young lady needs help.”

Adam nodded his head. “Yes. My mom is bloating up like crazy. This gradation can wait.” He rubbed her stomach. “What in the world is going on?”

Alice sighed as her belly button expanded outward. “I have a blueberry allergy, ok.

You gave me a blueberry candy bar, and I am turning into a blueberry.” She took a deep breath as she felt her breasts tense up, juice rushing into them. “Oh god, of all the places to be a giant blueberry.”

The man sitting next to her stood up. “Well, I am out. I well. . .” He ran his hands through his hair as sweat dripped down his neck. “I can’t take being around here.” He laughed and adverted his gaze. “Ugh god, you look so. . .” He turned around. “No, don’t. Not here.”

Alice raised an eyebrow as her butt started to push itself outward. “What are you mumbling about?”

He turned around. “Oh god, I find blueberries sexy. I have to go.” He dashed away.

Alice sighed as the chair beneath her began to wobble. “Well, I never.” She winced as the flimsy piece of metal snapped beneath her swelling body. “Oufff.”

“Hey, should we do something?” Adam gulped and stood up. “You are larger than I thought humans could get.”

Melissa rushed down from the stage. “Mother, what is going on?” She clenched her hands into fists as she watched Alice’s hips stretch out and rip her mother’s jeans apart. “You are running this ceremony.”

“I. . .” Alice put her hand on her chest as it began to expand outward with a sudden surge of juice. “I would be fine if someone didn’t give me a blueberry-flavored power bar.” She turned her head as juice filled her cheeks. “This is your fault, Adam.”

He threw up his arms. “Mine? How long have you been hiding this little allergy from us?”

Melissa raised an eyebrow. “What you didn’t know?”

Adam’s eyes widened as Alice fell onto her rear end, her stubby, juice-filled legs no longer able to support her weight. “She told you?”

Melissa crossed her arms and gave her brother a smug look. “She can trust me with a secret. Everyone knows you have loose lips.”

“I. . .” He formed his hands into fists. “I do not.” He looked at Alice. “How can you think that?”

Alice rubbed the sides of her body as her pants ripped apart, and her t-shirt began to stretch. “I have bigger problems at the moment. Can we discuss this another time?” She took a deep breath as she felt her legs sink into her round body. “Ohhhhhh I am so full.”

“Ehem!” The announcer on the stage tapped her foot before speaking into the microphone. “Ok, I think we all have had a lot of fun checking out the blueberry lady. Now Melissa, can you get back up here and accept your certificate?”

Melissa wheeled around. “Are you nuts? My mother needs help here.” The crowd laughed. “What is so funny?”

The lady on the stage laughed before speaking into the microphone. “That giant blue ball is your mother?”

Melissa narrowed her eyes. “Yes? Why?”

“Well, my dear, you take the cake. I don’t think anyone graduating here today will be able to make us laugh any more than you.” She fell over the podium. “Oh wow. The daughter of a blueberry.”

Melissa turned around and put her hands over Alice’s swelling body. “Don’t listen to them. You look wonderful.”

Alice sighed. “It’s fine. Really.” Alice took a deep breath. “I am past the point of this feeling bad. Now get up there and make our family proud.”

“But—

Alice narrowed her blue eyes. “Don’t make me cover you in juice.”

Melissa nodded her head. “Of course.” She turned around and rushed back towards the stage.”

Adam sighed and looked at Alice. “Please tell me you are not going to do this at my graduation.”

Alice raised an eyebrow. “Well, now that you bring it up.” She turned her head. “Maybe we should make it a family tradition.”

“But. . .”

She laughed. “A blueberry graduation. I actually like the sound of that.”

Adam sank into his seat. “I hope I stay in college for as long as I can.”

After the ceremony came to a close, Melissa rushed down and towards Alice. “Well, I have to thank you, mom!” She smiled and set her certificate on Alice.

“Why?” Alice looked at the parchment lying on her blueberry body. “Also, I am not a table.”

“Sorry.” She picked up the certificate and wiped off the blueberry juice. “Well, you made the experience something I will never forget.” She giggled. “I thought it was weird at first, but well you made it fun. Everyone was talking about you.”

A young man walked by. “Hey, can you bring your mother by for a party sometime, Melissa?”

Alice laughed. “Maybe.”

Adam shrank down in the chair. “Ugh.”

Alice smiled and looked at her son. “Well, well, looks like this is going to be a family thing after all. I have to thank you.” She laughed.

Adam shook his head. “What did I do? What did I do?”

Alice laughed. “Don’t worry too much.” She sighed. “Now, can we talk about you two rolling me home? And we need to talk about how you are going to juice me.” Their eyes went wide.
