Still messing around with this AU/timeline! I even gave it a Japanese light novel name 😂

For a while I didn’t have a canonical reason for Apoc and Assassin to basically look the same (though the more I draw Assassin the more distinct he looks) but the answer was there all along. It’s basic doppelgänger lore, so I’m adding it to my own demon lore that if a demon and human look similar, the demon is destined to kill the human, either on purpose or by accident. This means that some altercation between Apoc and Assassin leads to the decapitation timeline.

Originally, I was planning that this timeline would be a dark ending where the decapitation leads to Apoc becoming a mindless monster, but I like the variation where he’s still in there, trapped in a monster’s body with very limited control. Blink takes him in, both of them thinking that maybe Apoc could potentially return to normal if given enough time since he’s always returned to normal after his partial transformations in the past.
