You didn't quite answer my question.....i know on a physical card you can get the remainder balance back at the airport. But you can do this on a physical card, but i'm not sure about the process if its on your iphone.

2022-10-02 19:41:02 +0000 UTCHi JD-Prior to Covid, you could go to an “office” at major stations and get refunded the 500yen. But I look at it as a service charge for such a versatile “charge card.” Def worth the $5!
