Messing with portals

733 (Present day)

Brenda: "Just drop the crystal and maybe they will leave us alone!"

Jakar: "NAAAY! I refuse to leave empty handed"

Radne: "This isn't even what we came here to do!"

Radne was right, the task given to us was fairly simple:

-Scout the rift that suddenly appeared due north east of the city
-Purge the dimensional rift if major threats could potentially come out

It was supposed to be a quick pop in and pop out kind of thing, but as usual for us, things go on weird tangents.

One of the creatures lept after Jakar trying to grab the crystal, but Brenda managed to pull our halfling friend out of harm's way.

Jakar: "This thing is obviously a Fergon crystal, do you know how much it sells for? A lot! even if we split the gold evenly four ways, it's still enough money to sustain each of us for 2 months."

Brenda: "That's not the point. It's their crystal, return it before they get angrier"

Jakar: "Fuck no! they don't even know what it does, are we just going to pretend that we didn't see them pray and ritually sacrifice someone to it? and why are you being so anti-loot?"

Brenda: "I am not against claiming riches, I just think that MAYBE just MAYBE you should have waited a little bit, INSTEAD OF SNATCHING THE DAMNED THING IN THE MIDDLE OF THEIR RITUAL!"

More barking and screeches erupted from a distance and at least two dozen of these locals came out to join the chase.

Breena: "This could only go two ways, we either all die once we're overrun or we wipe them all out, and frankly I'm not inclined to participate in either of those outcomes"

Brenda: "Can you get us out?"

Breena: "I can but I need at least five minutes to prepare the gate, and I don't think our little friends here will give us that time"

Radne: "Then do the quick one!"

Breena: "What!? that's insane! That could take us anywhere and I mean ANYWHERE!"

Jakar: "Anywhere but here! JUST DO IT!"

Brenda: "Now we're messing with portals? seriously how are you guys still alive?!"

I sliced a rift into space without the necessary safety incantations, and one by one we dived into it not knowing where it leads.
