⏪🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Planet FPL History - Ireland v England (1995)

Twenty-five years ago the Republic of Ireland and England played a friendly at Lansdowne Road in Dublin. Less than half an hour after kick off the game was abandoned after missiles began to be thrown from the away section.

We discuss what happened, how politics had an impact, football hooliganism at the time.

Great pod. I remember this game for Le Tissier and being absolutely gutted for him. It was only his 2nd start for England and a big chance to impress in a massive game. After this game he wasn't included in the England squad, missed out on Euro 96 and only ever played two more games for England. What could have been if he banged in a couple of goals against Ireland!!
