Well fuck, lots to process here. As always gents, a genuinely fantastic blend of research, opinion and balanced debate with open questions. This is a subject I personally really struggle with. There are so many variables and infinite questions that should be asked to clarify both circumstance and fact. The Human brain is capable of filling in blanks. We are as quick to pass judgement as we are to deliver forgiveness and most of the time we are absorbing information that has been conditioned before it’s delivered. My first and strongest thought on this, is something we should all live by. “Don’t be a dick” (made more PC for Patreon) - if you’re in a friendship group or relationship that doesn’t make you a better version of yourself, it’s your responsibility to change that environment. It doesn’t mean those things didn’t happen. I refer back to the 2% you mentioned. Just because is hasn’t been proven in a court of law, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. The likelihood is that some version of what was listened to and witnessed online for Greenwood and the now mother of his child happened, is huge. We believe our own ears and eyes. I have no doubt that whichever way the truth falls, we only have a whisker of the information. Those with resources will always win over those without. Not just in football. As a Man United fan I have a very sore spot for this. First Giggs, then Greenwood and now Anthony. What is it with United? It can’t just be their players. It’s statistically impossible for one. How many footballers over the years have “misbehaved”. I think it’s essential that people are held accountable for their actions. But this needs to apply to everyone. Not just those with high profile careers to lose. I don’t have a defence or an attack on the Greenwood example. I don’t have all the information. It’s not much to ask as a society.
