💰 Game 39 | Money in Football
Added 2024-05-16 15:30:02 +0000 UTCIn 2008 the Premier League revealed plans to host a 39th gameweek in the Premier League around the World. It got shutdown due to fan backlash.
But much like the Super League proposal, the idea hasn't truly gone away.
And now a change in legislation law means La Liga are closing in on an agreement to play a Spanish League match in the USA. Serie A and Ligue One will likely want in too. So will the Premier League (and Bundesliga) follow?
Could a Premier League club actually play a home game in a different continent?
Perhaps the question that needs answering, is can anyone stop it?

They don't. But the whole structure of NFL home v away etc is different to a 38 game league season
