Because it's a word James really dislikes. But why does he dislike it? Or is it that he doesn't dislike it at all, and only dislikes how it is used?

I think the word used a lot in the medical field is “specialist”, rather than expert. “I’ve been to the gp and he’s referring me to a specialist” for example. And I think as you say, expert kinda brings an accountability of what you say. Like you have to be always right in what you say. Whereas specialist I kinda think takes that away and can just be someone who devotes a lot of time into something and who can explain what it is very easily to someone who doens t know much about it. In fact on Google it’s defined as “a person who concentrates primarily on a particular subject or activity” “possessing or involving detailed knowledge or study of a topic” Bit boring there. 😂 but yeh. Really enjoyed the chat. I think you’re definitely a fpl expert James. Although I get why you’re uncomfortable with that word. And definitely a spurs specialist. And indeed a football tactics specialist Knows way more than the average fan.

2024-09-18 09:58:32 +0000 UTCThis was a great conversation, I enjoyed it, and I support both of your opinions, James needs to realise that there is not only one expert in every field of information in the world, so he can be an expert on Tottenham history, rather than Tottenham current state with going to the ground to see them train like he mentioned, there’s nothing wrong with being knowledgeable, you don’t have to be the best to be an expert, you just have to be well informed and have the ability to inform others, which you do! Whether you like it or not you are an expert of Premier League football, and you should be proud of something that you have the others do not Big love, great conversation, and as you say, play at your way
