⏪ The Cantona Kung-Fu Kick 30 Years On
Added 2025-01-23 14:42:56 +0000 UTCThis Saturday will mark the 30th anniversary of ErIc Cantona's clash with Crystal Palace 'fan' Mark Simmons in the aftermath of the Frenchman being sent off at Selhurst Park.
Suj and James reflect on one of the Premier League's most shocking ever moments, the punishment Cantona faced, his career before and after, and the unfortunate tragedy that occurred when Palace fan Paul Nixon died before Palace met Manchester United in the FA Cup Semi Final later in the season

Very honest from Suj, but the whole series of incidents and responses had a bit too much testosterone in them for me. Can’t stand racism, can’t stand violence. Thanks for the honesty though - it was thought provoking. In my lifetime I have seen us get beaten in two FA cup finals by United after taking the lead each time, but I don’t think there is any rivalry or bad blood, even though those are the closest we’ve ever come to winning anything major. Oh, and I may never get to write this again so I might as well now - yes, we are “with due respect a small club”, but we are ahead of United in the table …. As well as a couple of other clubs that need not be named 😀 won’t last, of course….
