The cylinders are 360 apart, but even if they were 180 it would still be doing work pumping air. Better to just turn the cylinders into air springs. Also, removing the pistons would unbalance the crank, and fixing that would be a much bigger tear up.

2025-09-21 16:03:44 +0000 UTCWhy would you deactivate two cylinders yet leave the pistons in place...? Instead of capping off the plugs, why not connect them with a pipe, assuming the deactivated cylinders are at 180 from each other. That'll get rid of compression without affecting anything else.
